Director's Letter St. Louis Life Now Open! After years of planning and preparation, I am pleased to announce that St. Louis Life has opened its residential program and facility for young adults with developmental disabilities. I cannot begin to tell you how monumental these five words are to the many people and organizations that contributed to making St. Louis Life a reality. It has been a long, challenging journey but we have learned a great deal along the way. My thanks to our Board of Directors, with incredible leadership from Robert J. Trulaske, Jr., our generous donor base, to Susan Bruker and her amazing team at The Lawrence Group, to Steven Emmons and his team at PARIC, to Jody Delf and Sarah Trulaske for their tireless efforts in making our facility look and feel like a home, to the many organizations and agencies that have offered their support, encouragement, and ideas, and to my staff who have demonstrated their commitment to and passion for our residents and our mission in getting our program up and running. We are excited beyond belief to have finally opened our program in a world-class facility, striving to fulfill our mission to "enable individuals with developmental disabilities to achieve the highest level of independent living and live a full and enriched life.” We invite you to come and visit us as we work together to fulfilling this important mission of supporting young adults with special needs. Andy Conover Executive Director Site Tours for Families Now Available While a picture can paint a thousand words, a site tour offers families and potential residents a first hand look at the facility and a better understanding of the philosophy on which it is based. Site tours are a critical key in determining whether or not your son or daughter is a good fit with St. Louis Life. If you are interested in scheduling a site tour, please contact Andy Conover, St. Louis Life's Executive Director, at 636-561-1900 or via email my clicking HERE . St. Louis Life Seeking Applications St. Louis Life is currently seeking applications for its residential program. The decision to enroll in a life-long program is a significant one. St. Louis Life's application process reflects this. Admissions decisions are made based on the "goodness of fit" between the applicant and the program. Families are encouraged to review our admission criteria carefully.

Building In A New DirectionThis is no ordinary building at St. Louis Life. It is not a converted apartment building or outdated home.

This building is special because it has been designed from the ground up for one specific purpose: to give residents the highest quality of life as they maintain independence in a structured environment. It is

easy to see that the building was designed to make residential life an extraordinary experience.

The room pictured immediately above is dedicated to be a fully functioning movie theater, complete with three tier rows, movie seating with drink holders, and total surround sound. The picture is projected on

a six foot wide, built-in screen. Residents can watch movies, television, or view pictures from a slideshow while listening to a six speaker built in sound system.

The lighting in the room is designed just like a theater as well with overhead lights, wall fixtures, and guide lights on the floor to light the way during the show. With soft walls and built in speakers, the sound

exceeds the quality of most theaters while the plush seating adds an extra dimension of comfort. Whatmovie would be complete without popcorn? A microwave and drinks are available right outside the door

at the kitchenette.

The theater is one room that offers more than just comfort, it delivers an experience that makes life

special. With enough space for all the residents to participate, it promises to be a popular destinationfor St. Louis Life residents.

Resident VoicesIt is easy for the staff at St. Louis life to write about its programs and promote its wonderful amenities, but sometimes it is best to hear from the residents themselves. Recently, one resident was asked

about living at St. Louis Life. Here is what he had to say:

What things do you like about living in your own apartment?

I like to watch TV whenever I want and being able to have quiet time alone and listen to my heart.

How do you like living on your own? I like living on my own because I have more privacy here. I get to sleep in late sometimes and

I have more friends who are closer here.Which rooms do you like the most at St. Louis Life?

My apartment is my favorite and second favorite is the media room!Describe a recent activity at St. Louis Life that was fun.

I went swimming with Alex and Ellen. What kinds of meals do you like eating here? Do you help fix them? What things do

you do to help?I like healthy meals and greasy meals sometimes, too. I do help fix them and getting dishes

out, cleaning up and working as a team to get meals prepared. My favorite meal here is

homemade pizza! What else would you like to tell others who are considering living at St. Louis Life?

It’s fun to live here and have the freedom. The staff is fun and they provide entertainment and fun activities!
