WEEKEND OF SEPTEMBER 28 & 29

ST. PAUL'S CHURCH Turning Point, a 90-day men's shelter in Framingham, serves 38+ adult men and Shadows Shelter, a 90-day shelter in Ashland, serves 25 adult women are dependent upon donations for the following gently-used items: twin flat and fitted sheets, pillowcases, blankets, throw pillows or bed pillows, towels, hand umbrellas, and backpacks. They also are in need of these new sundries: facecloths, razors, shaving cream, soaps in baggies, deodorant, toothpaste, toothbrushes, shampoo, conditioner, combs, and sunscreen.

Linen-group items may be dropped off before or after all Masses at St. Paul's the weekend of September 28 & 29 in the Parish Hall. The sundries may also be brought to the Parish Hall or left near the grocery bins at the back of the church on that weekend.

OF ST. VINCENT DE PAUL In today's Gospel we see that prudent decisiveness means that we recognize that all our choices in daily living are really choices for eternal life. Admission into heaven is something money cannot

buy. The only currency that has any value to secure our entrance is that of love. All women of the collaborative are welcome to join us on Tuesday, October 1 when three Boston College School of Theology Doctoral candidates (Beth Barsotti, Katie Mahowski and Laurel Marshall) offer personal reflections and a panel discussion regarding women’s call to ministry. Please come! We will convene in St. John’s Powers Hall at 6:30pm with the program starting in St. John’s Chapel at 7:00pm. As always we will share in a potluck supper in Powers Hall following the discussion. Please bring a plate or beverage to share if you are able. Our Collaborative Confirmation Preparation Program

kicks off for all confirmation students this Sunday,

September 22 at 6:00pm after the first 5:00pm Sunday

Mass of the academic year. Ninth graders will report

to the St. Paul Parish Hall and Tenth graders will meet

in St. Paul church. Details about the program were sent

to all registered families. We have posted videos of the

information sessions on our Collaborative

Confirmation Preparation program website. If you

were not able to attend either meeting please review

the video so you are aware of all of the program

changes and requirements. Again, it is critical that 9th

and 10th grade students are registered as soon as

possible so all of the pertinent information about our

new program and schedule is distributed effectively.

HURRICANE DORIAN RELIEF COLLECTION Next weekend, September 28 and 29, there will be a special collection in support of the relief efforts for the dioceses of the Bahamas and the United States that have been ravaged by Hurricane Dorian. ST. JOHN UPDATE

Our Religious Education Team has been busy pouring some extra love into our 9AM Family Mass. Come by and be greeted by smiling faces, pick up a 'family friendly' worship aid with crayon kits and sign up to be a part of the celebration as collection-takers and gift-bearers. Bringing young children to Mass can be

challenging, and we are working to make the worship experience even more enjoyable for kids and adults!

This past week SJS students started Fall MAP assessments. MAP

assessments are used to measure a student's growth academically in

core subjects that include Reading and Mathematics. The Fall MAP assessment

gathers baseline data for each individual student, which helps teachers plan and

cater their curriculum to student needs. SJS students will once again take these

assessments in the winter. These assessments are bene$icial in that they are used to

chart a student's academic growth from year to year. Our teachers use MAP

assessments as teaching tools to guide young learners to succeed and thrive
