    NOTICES

I won’t be with you on Sunday morning as I have the very great privilege of baptising our new grandchild Alexander Lam at St. Paul’s Cathedral - I will be at 5pm Eucharist. My thanks to Bishop Peter who will preach at 8 and 10am; celebrate at 10am and Fr. Bill who will celebrate at 8am (all being well as he returns from his holiday late on Saturday).

The June edition of T.M.A. is out today - please take one and by all means, take one for others especially any who are sick or shut in.

    Every blessing,

    Ray

Annual Meeting - Synod Representatives Last week we made provision for the election of Synod Repre-sentatives - as there were only two nominations an election was not required. We therefore de-clared Judith Wright and Mal-colm Tadgell as our Lay Repre-sentatives. We have and Alter-nate Lay Representative, the Wardens would be pleased to hear from a Parish member who would be willing and interested in filling this position

    From our Locum Vicar

“A very warm welcome to all our visitors today and especially members of the British and Commonwealth Societies and the British Consul General, Mr. Chris Holtby. We shall remember our sovereign, Queen Elizabeth in word, prayer and music and all who serve the common good. Many thanks to all who made time to attend the Parish Consultation last Sunday, I believe over 30 parishioners. As facilitator I was delighted with the level of input, discussion and the intelligent and thoughtful way you contributed to the day. Well done all. We have had a couple of wonderful responses to our plea for Office Administration support - I have every confidence that we will seamlessly make the transition to a new phase for the Parish Office. Next Sunday is the Feast of Pentecost, Service times as normal - but can I encourage you to wear something RED to celebrate the day. Red represents the fire of the Holy Spirit.

Week of Prayer for Reconciliation May 27 to June 3

St George’s Anglican Church | Malvern

Sunday after Ascension 2 June 2019 Sentence God has raised Christ from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly places, far above all rule and authority and power and dominion, and above every name that is named. Ephesians 1-20 Collect

O God, the King of glory, you have exalted your only Son Jesus Christ with great triumph to your kingdom in heaven: we pray you, leave us not comfortless, but send your Holy Spirit to strengthen us, and exalt us to the same place where our Saviour Christ has gone before; who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

A reading from the Acts of the Apostles In the first book, Theophilus, I wrote about all that Jesus did and taught from the beginning until the day when he was taken up to heaven, after giving instructions through the Holy Spirit to the apos-tles whom he had chosen. After his suffering he presented himself alive to them by many convincing proofs, appearing to them over the course of forty days and speaking about the kingdom of God. While staying with them, he ordered them not to leave Jerusalem, but to wait there for the promise of the Father. ‘This’, he said, ‘is what you have heard from me; for John baptized with water, but you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days from now.’

So when they had come together, they asked him, ‘Lord, is this the time when you will restore the kingdom to Israel?’ He replied, ‘It is not for you to know the times or periods that the Father has set by his own authority. But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, in all Ju-dea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.’ When he had said this, as they were watching, he was lifted up, and a cloud took him out of

their sight. While he was going and they were gazing up towards heav-en, suddenly two men in white robes stood by them. They said, ‘Men of Galilee, why do you stand looking up towards heaven? This Jesus, who has been taken up from you into heaven, will come in the same way as you saw him go into heaven.’

Reader Hear the word of the Lord

    All Thanks be to God

    Psalm 110 at 8am APBA, page 342, at 10am TiS 55

This psalm combines thanksgiving for harvest with prayer for continued bless-ings. It serves as a thanksgiving for the resurrection and for the continuation of the fruit of risen life in the church and its spread to all nations.

A reading from the Paul’s letter to the Ephesians

I have heard of your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love towards all the saints, and for this reason I do not cease to give thanks for you as I remember you in my prayers. I pray that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give you a spirit of wisdom and revela-tion as you come to know him, so that, with the eyes of your heart en-lightened, you may know what is the hope to which he has called you, what are the riches of his glorious inheritance among the saints, and what is the immeasurable greatness of his power for us who believe, according to the working of his great power. God put this power to work in Christ when he raised him from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly places, far above all rule and authority and power and dominion, and above every name that is named, not only in this age but also in the age to come. And he has put all things under his feet and has made him the head over all things for the church, which is his body, the fullness of him who fills all in all. Ephesians 1.15-23

Reader A reading from the holy gospel according to Luke

ALL Glory to you Lord Jesus Christ.

Then he said to them, ‘These are my words that I spoke to you while I was still with you—that everything written about me in the law of Mo-ses, the prophets, and the psalms must be fulfilled.’ Then he opened their minds to understand the scriptures, and he said to them, ‘Thus it is writ-ten, that the Messiah is to suffer and to rise from the dead on the third day, and that repentance and forgiveness of sins is to be proclaimed in his name to all nations, beginning from Jerusalem. You are witnesses of these things. And see, I am sending upon you what my Father promised; so stay here in the city until you have been clothed with power from on high.’

Then he led them out as far as Bethany, and, lifting up his hands, he blessed them. While he was blessing them, he withdrew from them and was carried up into heaven. And they worshipped him, and returned to Jerusalem with great joy; and they were continually in the temple bless-ing God. Luke 24.44-53
