Little Entrance

TROPARION Tone 4

Having learned the joyful message of the Resurrection from the angel, the women Disciples

cast from them their parental condemnation, and proudly broke the news to the Disciples,

saying, Death hath been spoiled. Christ God is risen, granting the world Great Mercy. .

The Entrance Hymn(Eisodikon): O come let us worship and fall down before Christ, O Son of God, who art risen from

the dead, save us who sing unto thee: Alleluia

After the Entrance we chant:

TROPARION Tone 4

Having learned the joyful message of the Resurrection from the angel, the women Disciples

cast from them their parental condemnation, and proudly broke the news to the Disciples,

saying, Death hath been spoiled. Christ God is risen, granting the world Great Mercy.

Martyrs (Nassar, 36 #2) Tone 4

Thy Martyrs, O Lord, by their struggles have received from thee, our God, imperishable

crowns because, acquiring thy strength, they demolished usurpers and crushed the powerless

might of Satan. Therefore, through their intercessions, O Christ God, save our souls.

Troparion of St. George Tone 4

As deliver of captives and defender of the poor, healer of the infirm, champion of kings, victorius

great martyr George, intercede with Christ our God, for our souls’ salvation

Kontakion of the Theotokos Tone 4 O Undisputed intercessor of Christians, the mediatrix unrejected by the Creator, turn

not away from the voice of our petitions, though we be sinners. Come to us in time, who cry to

thee in faith, with assistance; for thou art good. Hasten to us with intercessions O Theotokos,

who dost ever intercede for those who honor thee.

The Trisagion Holy God, Holy Mighty, Holy Immortal one, have mercy on us

Holy God, Holy Mighty, Holy Immortal one, have mercy on us

Holy God, Holy Mighty, Holy Immortal one, have mercy on us

Glory to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit: both now and ever and unto

ages of ages. Amen.

The Megalynarion: It is truly meet to call thee Blessed, Lady Theotokos; Lady ever greatly blessed, and

most perfect in innocence, and the Mother of our God. Lady more precious than the Cherubim

and more glorious beyond all measure than the Seraphim. That without corruption gavest birth to

God the Word, and art truly Theotokos. We magnify thee.

The Koinonikon Praise ye the Lord from the Heavens; praise ye Him in the highest. Alleluia, Alleluia, Alleluia

Post-Communion

We have seen the true light; we have received the heavenly Spirit. We have found the true Faith.

Worshipping the undivided Trinity; for he hath saved us.

Great Dismissal

The Life Of The Saints

SAINT NEKTARIOS, METROPOLITAN OF PENTAPOLIS, THE WONDER WORKER Anastasios, as he was called, was from a very poor family in nineteenth century Selybria, in Thrace.

He attempted to board a ship to Constantinople to find work, but he had no money for a ticket. The engines of the ship roared, yet it would not move until Anastasios was permitted aboard. Enroute, the

sea once raged, but Anastasios dipped his cross, which contained a piece of the True Cross, into the

water three times, praying "Silence! Be still." The waters became still, but he lost his cross. As the

ship continued, a loud continuous knocking was heard from beneath the ship. When they arrived at their destination, the sailors found the cross stuck to the bottom of the ship. When he was 29 years of

age, he became a monk on the island of Chios. He became a deacon and an assistant to the Patriarch

of Alexandria in Egypt. The patriarch sent him to study theology in Athens, and he was ordained Priest Nektarios and later the Bishop of Pentapolis. However, owing to jealousy and alleged

improprieties, he was removed from office, only to be rejected again in Athens and the island of

Euboiea. He suffered as a pauper, but he persevered, and his integrity and his wisdom shone through. The people of Euboiea embraced him. He became the Dean of the School of Theology in Athens and

published many of his theological works. He retired to the island of Aegina in 1910 and helped begin

a convent and became a spiritual father with healing powers for many throughout Greece. Ten years

later, he was taken to a hospital ward in Athens for the poor and the incurable. He gave up his spirit there, and they prepared him for burial. His sweater was placed on the nearby bed of a paralytic, who

suddenly regained his strength and walked. The room, which has since become a chapel, was filled

with a beautiful fragrance for many.days after his death. His body was interred in his convent in Aegina, where it remained whole and fragrant for many years. Healings are seen throughout the

world to this day by the saint's prayers. He is considered the patron saint of those with cancer, heart

trouble, arthritis, and epilepsy.

Epistle

Galatians 2:16-20 (21st Sunday After Pentecost)

Prokeimenon: O Lord, how magnificent are your works. You have made all things in wisdom. Bless the Lord, O my soul.

EPISTLE: The reading is from St. Paul's Letter to the Galatians (2:16-20)

BRETHREN, you know that a man is not justified by works of the law but through faith in Jesus

Christ, even we have believed in Christ Jesus, in order to be justified by faith in Christ, and not by

works of the law, because by works of the law shall no one be justified. But if, in our endeavor to be justified in Christ, we ourselves were found to be sinners, is Christ then an agent of sin? Certainly

not! But if I build up again those things which I tore down, then I prove myself a transgressor. For I

through the law died to the law, that I might live to God. I have been crucified with Christ; it is no

longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me; and the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.

Gospel

Luke 8:41-56 (7th

Sunday of Luke)

At that time: There came a man named Jairus, who was a ruler of the synagogue; and falling

at Jesus' feet he besought Him to come to his house, for he had an only daughter, about twelve years

of age, and she was dying.

As He went, the people pressed round him. And a woman who had had a flow of blood for twelve years and had spent all her living upon physicians and could not be healed by any one, came

up behind Him, and touched the fringe of His garment; and immediately her flow of blood ceased.

And Jesus said, "Who was it that touched Me?" When all denied it, Peter and those who were with Him said, "Master, the multitudes surround you and press upon you!" But Jesus said, "Some one

touched Me; for I perceive that power has gone forth from Me." And when the woman saw that she

was not hidden, she came trembling, and falling down before Him declared in the presence of all the people why she had touched Him, and how she had been immediately healed. And He said to her,

"Daughter, your faith has made you well; go in peace."

While He was still speaking, a man from the ruler's house came and said, "Your daughter is

dead; do not trouble the Teacher any more." But Jesus on hearing this answered him, "Do not fear; only believe, and she shall be well." And when He came to the house, He permitted no one to enter

with Him, except Peter and John and James, and the father and mother of the child. And all were

weeping and bewailing her; but He said, "Do not weep; for she is not dead but sleeping." And they laughed at Him, knowing that she was dead. But taking her by the hand He called, saying, "Child,

arise." And her spirit returned, and she got up at once; and He directed that something should be

given her to eat. And her parents were amazed; but He charged them to tell no one what had happened.

Do you have a question on your mind

but have been afraid to ask. Well, don’t

worry, no question is ever stupid. Not finding

out the answer is, so if you have a question

about your church, moral issues, liturgical

questions, whatever, just put down your

question below, slip it in an envelope

addressed to Fr. Jean Ojaimi and either mail it

or drop it in the Sunday offering basket. No

need to put your name on it unless of course

you prefer to. Fr. Jean will be happy to answer

your questions. Don’t let them weigh on your

mind. Father may answer the questions in

church or if you prefer, maybe at one of the

organizational meetings, or in the bulletin. I’m

sure we all have at least one unanswered question regarding our Orthodox faith, church or

moral issues. Just ask and you will be answered.

My question is:
