3SLaT Bespoke handmade chez long

Designed around Bauhaus movements SLaT is a contemporary piece of furniture encapsulating the essence of Bauhaus styling with a modern aesthetic.

Developing the chair was a process which went back and forth between the drawing board and model making until the it was ready to be built.

Page 7: Nabil Harb Design Portfolio

As this was an A-level project, the only part of the chair that was outsourced was the veneering for the 4 legs panes as this was not possible with the facilities available. The rest was fabricated within the school by myself, including the upholstery for the slats. which improved my craftsmanship and developed my eye for detail for precision and accuracy when prototyping.

The future of sustainable awareness and monitory among the businessmen of the Arabian Gulf.Egal is programed to glow gold when the user has remembered to turn off appliances when leaving the environment for a duration of 30+ minutes.

is a simple system that allows people to monitor their eco activity and become more motivated to become eco friendly.

The Egal (eh-gal) is the black rope worn on the top of the traditional headdress of the men of the Arabian Gulf and Middle East.

Egal monitors power usage in a chosen environment over a timed period whilst keeping track of the user’s presence in the environment, to reveal to the user how, when and where they could be more eco friendly in their day to day life.

Egal is supported by an online environment where users can get feedback on their eco activity, this chart represents an example of a typical private office environment in the Arabian Gulf and informs the user of how they are wasting energy when leaving appliances on when they are not needed to be on, for example the lights are only on for the duration of the work day, however the computer, monitor and air conditioning are left running 24 hours and are not needed to be on for all this time.

is a system which aims to promote sustainable and eco friendly practice within the developing countries within the Arabian Gulf and Middle east, as there is mass amounts of sustainable development being invested in by the government, but unless the general population understand the the influences of their actions, the shift to sustainable living will never be fully achieved.

Microchip, computes Egal.

RFID wired into Egal to let CPU scan when user

leaves environment.

Graphene Circuit boardholds circuit within the Egal.

Central Processing Unit build into environment to

detect when the user has left, and what

appliances are still on within the environment

Flexible solar cells sewn into Egal as a power source.

Fiber Optics sen into Egal to provide glow.

Appliances are off

User exits environment

CPU scans RFID in Egal as it leaves room and checks power status of appliances in environment

Appliances left on

Egal will not glow if user is away from environment for

longer then 30 minutes, therefore will not be able to

increase social status representing positive eco

activity and lifestyle.

Microchip is programmed to

power fiber optics after 30 minutes without

return to environment

If user does not return to environment

within 30 minutes fiber optics glow and Egal glows until user

returns to environment

User is now glowing and promoting their eco activity

amongst colleagues making them want same level of social status, and realize they must adopt eco active lifestyle to do

BriefYou should identify a company and exhibition (or other

promotional event) and design a plastic component that preferrably re-uses an existing product which could be used to promote their goods or services along with the

mould tool required to injection mould one of the widgets.Problem

As an event photography I noticed that it is easy for lens caps to be misplaced or contaminated by lint or spilt drinks when kept in my pockets, which can later be transferred to the camera lens which could lead to

scratches from lint, or smaller scratches if the lens is not properly cleaned.

SolutionKappi was designed to prevent the lens cap from being misplaced by keeping it close to the camera’s main body

as well as keeping the inside of the lens cap out of the way of contaminants.

Photojojo is a small company which sells quirky products and accessories designed around photography, which seemed an appropriate company to design a promotional give away for.

• Mould tool can be manufactured to a family formation allowing multiple widgets to be injected at once for mass production.

• Injected with PP (polypropylene) due to it’s good resistance to fatigue, variety of colours and is reasonably economical.

• Can be fitted to a camera body with a standard 1/4" diameter, 20 threads per inch (1/4-20), identical to that of a camera tripod.
