Sign-up sheet is located on the back
table. Mass at 7 p.m.
This Fall at SFX
-Please take a few minutes in prayer today to discern joining our Discovering Christ program
for the fall. We are offering two options: a daytime class that will meet on Tuesdays from
11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. beginning October 1st. Our seminarian Esteban Mallar will facilitate
this class. Another option is Thursday night from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. John and Patti La-
Neve will facilitate beginning October 3rd.
The format is very simple – we begin with a meal that we will provide; we watch a 30-minute
video about a spiritual topic, and we conclude with 30 minutes of conversation about the video.
A few things I found from last year’s course: people loved sharing a meal together and fellow-
shipping; they enjoyed the modern and well done videos, and they loved the opportunity to
speak about their faith with other Catholics. Seven weeks that could change your life! Please
consider signing up by the back tables or at [email protected].
-We are in the midst of a feasibility study to explore the possibility of building a new school
on our Grant Street property. We would keep the current school intact and begin building on
Grant Street once we have secured one half of the cost in cash or pledges. We will have a ren-
dering of the proposed school in November to share with you. Besides reaching out to SFX Par-
ish, we are reaching out to SFX School families, SFX alumni, local philanthropists, and seeking
grants and assistance from the Diocese. If you have received a survey, please take a moment to
fill it out and return it.
-Today is commitment Sunday for our “Leading All to Christ” campaign. We will hear from
fellow parishioners and collect our pledge cards today. This is different than a capital cam-
paign. We are stopping to assess what we give to the Lord each week (or month) to build up the
Kingdom of God here in the Golden Isles. What is the Lord asking me to give? Can I give 2%
more? 5% more? Have a conversation with Our Lord, and please fill out your card today. If you
need a card, they are in the pew or on the front tables.
The Spirit is a moving at St. Francis Xavier! I hope you will find a way to be involved. Life
with our Lord is always an adventure. It is not always easy, but we were not made for comfort –
we were made for greatness (Pope Benedict XVI)!
Fr. Tim McKeown

We welcome and appreciate the talent of our new accompanist Billie Lou
Henjum, and encourage everyone who enjoys singing to join us! The
choir will start back in October after their summer break. We practice on
Wed. evenings following the 7:00 PM mass in the choir loft and again on
Sunday mornings at 10:00 AM. It is not necessary to be able to read mu-
sic but that is helpful. We would love to be able to sing 4-part harmony on
the beautiful music we sang in the past and could do so with more mem-
bers. We are now using the Heritage Mass settings until Advent. The
Gloria is No. 877 in the green book followed by the music for the other
mass parts.

Feasibility Study
In working with parish and school leaders and after much prayer and discernment, we have decided to conduct a feasibility study to determine whether a capital campaign is possible or not. We are consider-ing a campaign to build a new School building. Over the course of the next several weeks, we will be invit-ing all of you to participate in this feasibility study. This is an opportunity to share YOUR thoughts and feelings about the parish and school, its future and whether you see the need for this vision.
Many of you will be receiving a letter requesting a personal interview; please respond to us as soon as possible. The interview will ideally be done here at the parish or, if needed, can be arranged over the phone. Please call the parish office to schedule an appointment. Also, many of you will be receiving a questionnaire in the mail. You may complete this online following the instructions in my letter or you may complete it and return it in the envelope provid-ed. Please complete and return your questionnaire prior to October 11th. Thank you in advance for your participation. Please continue to pray for our parish and school families as we embark on discerning our future.
The Council
of Catholic
Women will
have their
monthly
gathering on Monday,
October 7 at 6:00 pm
in Xavier hall. Ladies
of the parish are
invited to come and
join us.
For many years, Publix has been a partner with
local schools, including St. Francis Xavier Catholic
School! Parishioners and parents were asked to
swipe a little green card each time they made a
purchase, and a percentage of the cost was sent
to the school. Publix will continue to do that, but
beginning October 1st, the little green cards will
not be used. Instead, you are asked to go toPub-
lix.com/partners and set up an account (name,
email, and phone number) and select St. Francis
Xavier School as your favorite, then each time
you check out, you will put in your phone num-
ber and you will be helping our school earn mon-
ey the same way you did using the little green
cards. Thank you for taking the time to sign up
at Publix.com/partners. This is a great, easy way
to support our parish school! Thank you!
