    IntroductionTheStErthParishPlanprojectwassetupbythe

    Parish Council in 2004 to nd out the hopes, needs

    andconcernsofthepeopleofStErth.The ParishPlan 2006setsouttheprioritiesyouhavechosenasourPlanofActionforthenextdecade.

    TheProcessTheParishPlanSteeringGroupdrewupa

    comprehensivelistofthemesofparticularinterestor

    concerntoresidents,andtheParish Survey 2005wasdistributedtoeveryresidentinStErthParish.

    The Event DaytookplaceinJanuary2006attheOldSchoolinStErthforresidentstochooseandcomment

    ontheirtoppriorities.Post-itnoteswereprovided

    forextracommentsandsuggestions.Representatives

    fromcommunityorganisations,StErthParishCouncil,

    PenwithDistrictCouncilandCornwallCountyCouncilcamealongtodiscussconcernsandgiveadvice.Ahog

    roastandotherrefreshmentswereprovidedtohelp

    thedayalong.

    The actions you have chosen are not xed for

    completion within a nite period. As the village

    evolves,projectswillbecompleted,andnew

    challengeswillpresentthemselves.Thecommunity

    willneedtoreviewtheplanandreassessits

    objectives as the decade progresses, to reect the

    changesintheParish.

    MakingThePlanHappenYouwanttoprotectthecharacterandenvironment

    oftheparish,andseeimprovementstoservices

    andinfrastructure,andtheParishisalreadymaking

    progressonprojectsthatwillenhancelifeforallin

    ourcommunity.

    ThePlanshouldbeusedasatooltoguideandassist

    usinouractivities,helpplanouractions,andprovide

    theevidenceneededtosupportfundingbids.We,the

    communityandtheParishCouncil,willneedtowork

    togethertoachieveouraims.

    Inevitablymanyactionswilloverlapplansforyouth

    facilities,forinstance,couldwellbeconsidered

    inconjunctionwiththeCommunityCentre,Public

    OpenSpaces,Environment,orStErthPrimarySchool

    projects.

    Aswegotoprint,discussionsareunderwayaboutthe

    futureoftheMethodistChapel,andthepossibilities

    ofanewCommunityCentrebeingestablished

    thereoronanewsiteneartheschool.TheStErth

    ResidentsAssociationhasrefurbishedVicarageGate

    playing eld as a Play Parc, and plans are underway

    forallotmentstobeestablishednexttotheparc.Alternativeproposalsforrecreationhavealsobeen

    putforwardfortheoldBMXtrackbytheriver,and

    sites for a football eld are being investigated by

    anewlyformedteamcomprisingresidentsand

    membersoftheParishCouncil.

    LinkstotheHayleAreaPlan

    TheStErthParishPlan,andthesubsequentactions

    andprojectstoresultfromit,needtobelinkedin

    stronglywiththeHayleAreaPlan2005-25.ThisisacommunityledstrategicPlanforHayleandthe

    surroundingParishes,includingGwinear-Gwithianand

    As elsewhere in Cornwall, rural trafc causes great

    concern, especially speeding trafc. Many called for

    more trafc calming measures to make roads in theParishassafeaspossible.

    Transport users have experienced difculties in the

    pastwithbusservices,theirtimetabling,reliability

    fromthevillagetothestation.TheLocalTransport
