4th Sunday of Advent This time of year is full of promise and the Bethlehem star reminds us of our hope for a future of peace in our own hearts and the hearts of the world. But we cannot achieve this peace on our own. We must open our hearts to the promise of Christmas. Violence flourishes if the world accepts it as inevitable. The world can change, if the love of the Christmas child takes root in our hearts. Peace flows from hearts that love. “The virgin shall be with child, and bear a son, and shall name him Immanuel” (Isaiah 7:14). This Christmas we can once again rekindle our own sense of innocence and hope. Try to experience the new life promised with the birth of the Christ child and be like the young girl long ago who believed that nothing is impossible when God is involved. Last Year I celebrated Christmas with you in Olds, Sundre and Didsbury. However, this year Father Adam Lech will be celebrating Christmas with you in Olds, Sundre and Didsbury, while I will be celebrating Christmas in Trochu and Three Hills. I will be leaving for Poland to visit my family from January 2nd, 2017 thru January 25, 2017. I will miss you but you will all be close to my heart in prayer. May God bless you. Fr. Adam Daniluk

Holy Trinity Christmas Concert – Bake Sale Holy Trinity School will be hosting their annual Christmas Christmas Concert & Bake Sale on Monday Dec 18th – 7pm. If you have any baking that you would like to donate, please drop it off on Monday afternoon – all proceeds from Bake Sale go towards the Music Program. (Items can be by tray, by bag or by item – priced and ready to go.
SYRIAN FAMILY PROJECT The fundraising for our family project is complete and the steps are in place. We will be sponsoring a family of 6; Grandparents, parents and two children; a 12 yr old girl and 17 yr old boy. The details regarding when they arrive are still unknown, but we are happy to be moving forward. We will be working with the Garage Sale committee to find items to set up house and home for the family. We will pull from the garage sale inventory so if you have furniture, household items, etc for donation, please forward them to the Garage Sale. YOUTH NEWS IMPORTANT UPDATE: There will be NO youth group on Friday, December 23 as planned due to the fact that most families are going away or will be unable to make it that evening. Don't fret though. We are having our year end celebration on Friday, December 30! Stay tuned for more info :)
Youth Nights are for youth grades 5-12. There are lots of ways to check in on St. Stephen's Youth and see what we are up to! Check the parish bulletin weekly for updates, our calendar in the youth room downstairs, our FB page (St. Stephen's Youth), email for info at [email protected], or call/text Selina at 403-415-5223.
CATECHISM/CHILDRENS LITURGY: Catechism classes and Children’s Liturgy will not be running during the Christmas / New Years weekends.
Classes will resume on January 8th, 2017.

April 29/30 – Weekend retreat ANNUAL GARAGE SALE Once again our Annual Gigantic Garage Sale is fast approaching. It will be held Friday January 27th and Saturday January 28th. Please mark your calendars and SAVE YOUR ITEMS. Please note: We DO NOT accept the following items – shoes, undergarments, swimsuits, magazines, encyclopedias, old outdated TV’s, used mattresses or stuffed animals. Electric appliances must work. Watch the bulletin for further details in January. For further information contact Murray and Diane Arbuckle (403) 556-3003. We appreciate and rely on the donated items and goodwill of our parishioners and the many volunteer hours that go into preparing and organizing for this tremendous sale. We ask that you do not drop off anything that isn’t suitable for selling as this means extra time for the volunteers in addition to the cost involved in disposing of these items.

PASTORAL VISITS/ PRIVACY LAWS Due to current Privacy laws, we, as a church, are no longer able to ask hospital staff for a list of those patients who are Catholic and who might wish to receive a Pastoral visit and/or receive communion during their hospital stay. Thus, we now appeal to family and friends to let us know if you are aware of anyone who has need of either of the above mentioned services. EUTHANASIA AWARENESS – “THE EUTHANASIA DECEPTION”
For all parishioners – Mark your calendars!! On January 8th, 2017 at 2:00 pm in St. Stephen’s Parish Hall, the CWL will be showing a documentary - “The Euthanasia Deception”. This is information we should be aware of in light of the “Canadian Assisted Dying Bill.” All are encouraged to attend and bring a friend.
