“A” grade by NAAC in near by two districts Gurdaspur and Pathankot. Our unimpeded commitment to quality
has enabled us to create new parameters of success in every field. In the present scenario of rapid
transformation in higher education, the college has been steadly but firmly moving to create a highly
qualified, trained, emphatic and virtuous workforce. For this, the college offers various academic programs at

COLLEGE wami Swatantranand Memorial College, one of the Prestigious Institutes of the area,
Sis the only co-educational college, Re-accredited with 'A' grade by NAAC in two
districts (Pathankot and Gurdaspur). It is a multi faculty, Post-graduate; government
aided. Premier institution established in 1973 in the sacred memory of Swami
Swatantranand Ji, a staunch Arya Samajist, freedom fighter and social reformer and founder
of Dyanand Math Dinanagar. The foundation stone was laid down by Swami Sarvanand Ji,
The foundation head of inspiration. At present it is being run under the judicious and
sagacious guidance of Swami Sadanand Ji, the present Acharya of Dyanand Math, along
with other members of the Management Committee.
During the last 43 years, the seed sowed by early founders of the college has grown into a full
fledged tree to take the legitimate pride in rendering meritorious services in this rural,
backward and border belt area by carving a niche for itself in the educational spheres.
Endeavoring to be one of the best and speedy growing institution, the college has been
expanding its wings in all fields by adhering to moral values as its strength. In overall
performance, the college is Re-accredited with 'A' Grade by NAAC. In sports it's the only
college in Guru Nanak Dev University having the honor of winning Nine times Overall Sports
Trophy (B-division). In co curricular activities, the college is the winner of Second Runner Up
(A-division).
In Academics, the college has captured maximum top ten positions in GNDU almost in all
PG courses. Our NCC cadets have been awarded by our worthy Prime Minister Shri
Narinder Modi in RDC group. This long journey of success and achievements is still
continued under the dynamic and visionary leadership of our worthy principal Dr. R.K Tuli,
who always believes to hit the target by Excellence, Perfection and Performance.

1. Applicants for Admission must be present at the college with the following documents:
a) While seeking Admission, students must submit original certicate and DMC of lower class passed
b) Character Certicate from the Head of the School or College last attended by the applicant.
c) Residential proof.
d.) Original Migration Certicate of the Board /University from where a candidate has passed his/her lower examination.
2. The admission of a candidate shall be deemed valid only if he/she deposits his/her fees and other dues in the college and obtains the Roll Number Slip immediately after the Principal has put his signature on the admission form granting him/her admission.
3. Candidates, whose applications for admission are accepted provisionally, shall be considered only when they have paid their dues and have made available to the college ofce the information that is lacking and fullled the conditions stipulated for regular admission.
4. While seeking admission, a student must submit four latest passport size photos along with his/her admission, fai l ing which his/her admission would be considered invalid.
5) SC/ST candidates are to submit certicate from competent authority.
6) For prociency in sports/extra -curricular activities, relevant certicates must be submitted.
The last date for obtaining the Eligibility Certicate is as per GNDU guidelines.
7. Fee/dues once paid to the college shall not be refunded under any circumstances.
8. The Principal reserves with himself the right to grant or refuse admission to any students without assigning any reason.
9. No student shall be admitted to the rst semester of B.A ./B.Sc./B.Com./B.Sc. (Eco.) /BCA /B.Sc. (I.T) unless he/she has successfully completed 12 years of schooling through an accredited Board/university.
10. Only the following categories of studentss shall be allowed to take up Basic Punjabi in lieu of General Punjabi at the Degree Level:
a) Non-Resident Indians.
b) Those who have passed Matric and /or Senior (+2) Examination with Punjab History and Culture in place of General Punjabi.
c) Residents of other States whose mother- tongue is not Punjabi and who have not studied Punjabi at any level.
11. During each academic year a student has to attend 75% of the total lectures delivered in each subject. If the student is admitted late to the college due to the late declaration of results i.e. within 10 days after the declaration of his/her results, the attendance will be counted from the date of his admission to the college.
12. Every student has to secure 20% of marks in each subject/paper and 25% in aggregate in the House examinations.
FINES WILL BE IMPOSED ON A student WHO:
Ÿ Remains absent from class:-
Ÿ a) per period Rs. 5/-
Ÿ Remains absent and fail from House Test:
Ÿ a) Rs. 100/- per paper.
Ÿ Special ne for Mass bunks & for not paying dues on due date.
General Instructions for the courses under Semester System
1. Courses having two semesters duration:
a. There shall be no condition for promoting students from 1st semester to 2nd semester.
b. In case a student fails to pass all the courses /papers within a period of two semesters (one year),he/she shall be given two consecutive
semesters (one year) more to pass.
2. Courses having four semesters duration:
a. However the students shall be promoted to the third semester only if he/she has passed at least 50% course/papers of the rst two semesters.
b. There shall be no condition for promoting a student from third semester to fourth semester.
c. In case a students fails to pass all the courses / papers within a period of four semesters (Two years), he/she shall be given four consecutive semesters (two years) more to pass.
3. Courses having six semesters system duration:
Ÿ However a student shall be promoted to fth semester only if he/she has passed at least 50% course/papers of the rst four semesters.
Ÿ The students shall be promoted to sixth semester only if he/she has passed all the papers of the rst semester. After a period of six semesters the students shall be given a period of two consecutive years to pass.
4. Courses having eight semesters system:
Ÿ The students shall be promoted to seventh semester only if he/she has passed all the papers of rst two semesters.
Ÿ The students shall be promoted to eighth semester only if he/she has passed all the papers of rst three semesters.

Main Library: Library being the hub of academic activities, serves the intellectual needs of the students by providing access to books, magazines, journals and news -papers. Our college library has a stock of more than 20 thousand volumes on all subjects having open shelf system. It contains general books of varied interests. Its reading room accommodates more than 200 students, and a separate arrangement of seating and reading is made for girls. The students can get books issued on their library cards for xed duration. The Photostat facility is also available in the library.
Wi-Fi CampusStudents get round the clock access to internet all over the college campus through WI-FI with a speed of 512 Kbps. This facility is provided to students as well as teachers for referring to online journals, Publications and research work.
College Dispensary:
Dr. Kashyap, one of the reputed doctors of the area, pays two visits a week. Necessary medicines for common ailments are provided to the students. Special arrangements are also their for emergency cases. A Full time lady doctor is always present during working hours.
Computer Centre
This Centre is exclusively meant for teachers. A projector, Fast Speed Laser Printer, Audio visual Aids, etc. in addition to more than 200 computers spread over in ve independent labs, well maintained and kept by the lab assistants under the guidance of individual teachers. This Computer Centre is connected to the web through fastest internet connectivity provided by 20 BSNL Broadband connections.
The college has constructed a new, modern and spacious canteen with separate dinning hall for girls, boys & staff. The college canteen serves delicious, healthy and hygienic food at reasonable rates. The canteen also provides good quality fast food and beverages at nominal prices.
Play Grounds and Game Courts
The college has lush-green play grounds: Tennis Court, Basketball Court, Volleyball and Badminton Court. The students in their free periods practice various games by having the proper guidance from the coaches especially appointed for each game.
Physics: There are well-equipped physics labs. Each lab is maintained by lab assistant under the guidance and care of teacher-in-charge. Practicals of the college as well as the University are conducted in these labs.
Chemistry: Two chemistry labs are equally well maintained and taken care by lab assistant with the help and guidance of teacher-in charge for conducting practicals.
Botany: One fully equipped Botany lab too has one Lab assistant working under the guidance of teacher-in charge.
Zoology: S.S.M has one fully equipped zoology lab. It also has one lab assistant working under the guidance of teacher-in charge.
Science Labs
Text Book Library: The poor and deserving students can get prescribed text books issued for full session from the text book library of the college. Number of books as per students' requirements are added every year. There are more than one thousand books in this wing.
P.G. Section of the Library : The main library of the college has maintained a separate section
for P.G. students with separate sections for all subjects. The total number of books in each subject matches with the demand of books prescribed by the University and required by the students. The section is regularly updated with the latest publications of books, journals and magazines both literary as well as general. The information of the arrival of new books is properly displayed at the notice board of the library.
Periodicals and Journals: The college subscribes to a number of weekly/ Fortnightly /monthly magazines, journals and periodicals for the teachers as well as for the learners to equip them with the latest information in the eld of science, commerce, literature and general knowledge.
Book Bank : The college provides the facility of book bank for the students. A book bank has been established for SC/ST students having the books on various subjects. Different clubs and local societies also help in providing funds for the book bank facility.

Separate Hostels for Boys & Girls
The college offers separate hostels for boys & girls having the accommodation to 50 students in each hostel. Admission is strictly on merit and on the rst-come, rst-serve basis. Admission to the hostel and college is done simultaneously. The hostel provides the facility of spacious and ventilated rooms. RO/UV drinking water facility is provided in both the hostels.
College Gymnasium:
The college Gym provides additional facility to students for physical exercises with the latest equipments. Sufcient space is allocated for more than 30 equipments. Gymnanisum provides the best way to channelize students energy in the positive way.
World Class Auditorium
SSM has a state of art auditorium that can seat up to 450 students. The auditorium is equipped with all the modern gadgets. The auditorium is aesthetically designed with proper acoustics technology enabled equipment.
TransportationSSM has a eet of 9 new luxury buses which connect all major points of Dinanagar as well as Pathankot, Gurdaspur, Dhariwal, Behrampur, Dorangla, Gahlari, Taragarh, Kalanaur etc. to SSM at nominal charges. The college provides bus service for carrying the college students from Dinanagar Railway Station/Bus Stand to the college free of cost.
Open Air Theater
Most of the academic, cultural and other general functions of the college are organized in the Open Air Theater which has the seating capacity of more than 600 students with all the electrical and other theatrical ttings.
The College runs Women Cell funded by U.G.C. for the welfare and upliftment of its girl students. The cell organizes various functions, extension-lecturers, visits, conferences and Awareness Programs to make these students aware of their rights and enable them develop the spirit of healthy competition in all the walks of life.
WOMEN CELL
Youth welfare Department organizes various activities under the leadership of Youth Coordinator Prof. Parbodh Grover. The college students are encouraged to participate in the various youth activities, youth leadership hiking and trekking camps are organized by the department from time to time. For the last many years the college has an active participation in the University Youth Festivals and has won championship many times.
SOCIETIES AND ASSOCIATIONSThe various societies and associations are established in order to achieve the desired aim
Subject Societies:The college has a number of societies formed by the different departments under the chairmanship of the Principal. These societies hold inter-class and inter college competitions. Scholars from different elds are invited to enlighten the students about the academic developments taking place in the country and abroad.
Seminars and Extension LecturesThe college holds it a point of pride to encourage the teachers for faculty improvement programme. For this, the college organizes UGC sponsored Seminars every year. A number of extension lectures are also organized by the different departments of the college from time to time.
Youth Welfare Department:
Arya Kumar Sabha:To impart moral values to our students has always been a prime objective of our college. In order to inculcate these values, The Arya Kumar Sabha of the college works on the teachings of Swami DayanandJi, social reformer and the founder of Arya Samaj. Weekly Hawan on every Monday is performed under the supervision of Dr. Rajan Handa(Sanskrit Department) to make the students aware of their Vedic Sanskriti. This forum has been constituted to promote Indian Culture and Heritage.

The NSS Unit of the college spreads awareness among students for social service. The college is successfully running three NSS wings. Two wings are for boys and one for girls. The Unit functions under the guidance of Dr. RajanHanda and makes its unique contribution in the different services rendered to society.
The thing that lies at the foundation of positive change, the way I see it, is service to a fellow human being.
The NCC wing of the college participates and organizes many activities in order to build leadership qualities and social welfare virtues among our students. The college has one unit of NCC under the supervision of Prof. Parbodh Grover. The students of our college participate in different camps and win laurels for the college.
SPORTS CLUBThe Department of Physical Education organizes various inter college sports activities in the college campus. Not only in Academics but in Sports also, SSM College Dinanagar is known for its star performance. The college holds its annual sports meet every year. All kinds of sports & athletic activities are arranged and organized in the college. The college has maintained its rapport as one of the best college in the eld of games and sports. The Co-Curricular Department of the college assists students to develop their talents in the eld of music, theatre, ne arts, and literary activities. Bes ides ta len t search and in te r c lass competitions, the college engages experts of various elds to train students for Inter College and University Contests. The CCA department has won laurels in the Zonal Youth Festivals held at GNDU, Amritsar. Besides this the various inter departmental and inter college functions are held in order to develop the overall personality of the students. The college also holds its Annual Inter College Cultural Function in the campus.
