This me last year we were in hugely outdated facilies and wondering if London 2012 would be any good? Fast forward 12 months and the change is simp- ly amazing! We are in fantasc new state of the art facilies which have revoluonised our PE lessons and made us all raise our standards. Then of course there is London 2012. 6 weeks of the summer that changed many of our lives for- ever and united us as a naon. The le gacy of the games is evident in our PE survey where 18 sports featured as students “favourites” and extra curricular aendance has simply gone through the roof. In addion to this we have set SHS students on the path to their own Olympic glory with the Elite Athlete Potenal Pathway. 2012 had the potenal to be very good indeed, but in the end it beat anything we could have dreamed of!  How sport shapes us all… "When we were awarded the opportunity to host the Olym-  pics, we said that we wo uld be judged te n years aer win- ning the bid to host the Games. Merry Christmas SHS!! Wow, what a year 2012 was!!! This me last

year we were in hugely outdated facilies and

wondering if London 2012 would be any good? Fast forward 12 months and the change is simp-

Sports Personality Shortlist announced 

SSM’s Short Shorts!!! 

Year 7/8 Athletes have been taking

part in the Indoor Athlecs events this

month, aiming to be selected for

Traord at the Manchester Games. Meanwhile Troy Mc Carthy has been

doing amazingly well for Traord AC,

pushing for the Naonal Indoor Finals.

He is one of 12 students who are now

members of our local athlecs club 

Young Sports Leaders recently held a

Mul Skills Fesval for Year 2 stu-

dents. The fesval is part of our London 2012

Primary School Legacy Programme run

by Miss Hughes. Well done guys!! 

All students selected for the Elite Ath-

lete Potenal Programme must bring in

their target sheets as a start and book

an appointment with Mr Fretwell on

Wednesdays aer school. Once this is

done they will receive their badge and

athletes privileges. 

The shortlist for the presgious BBC Sports Personality of 

the Year has been announced, and this year will be the most

compeve ever! With the year being dominated by London 2012, 11 of the 12
