Father Christmas Creator and More!Every year a special feature in the Davenport Christmas Tree Elegance exhibit is one of Elizabeth Raol's “Father Christmas” figures. It is a perfect example of the precision and care needed to create this work of art so it is not surprising to find that the person behind it is in charge of the “tree teams” who work from January to the next CTE the following year! And, of course, that number has

grown from 12 to 18 in the last two years with the expansion of the event to River Park Square.

Over 30 key individuals head up the teams or are designated “decorators”. These people work throughout the year preparing their trees and securing gifts and doing all the “behind the scenes” steps necessary to execute a truly elegant and awesome event for SSA. Elizabeth coordinates their efforts, chairs regular meetings with the teams, encourages them, supports their works, shares their concerns, and is absolutely a wonder to watch in action! We would be hard-pressed to think of doing this without her and it is hard to describe all the efforts she puts into this each year! She needs to be lauded—so “here's to Elizabeth and her fantastic tree teams that make Christmas Tree Elegance what it is!!” SENSATIONAL!!

Thank you so much to all the volunteers who made this year’s event possible and to the hundreds of generous donors throughout the community. In addition, we are so grateful to the Brass Ensemble who entertained us at the 30th Anniversary Luncheon, Val Hughes and her group who entertained at Monday’s Holiday Hat Luncheon and the Cello Trio who played for the Davenport-hosted Tuesday luncheon in the Hall of Doges. When we all work together, look at the amazing results!!!

But the real highlight of CTE came during the second week when the musicians’ strike was settled. Everyone was thrilled that our hard work would help the Symphony keep the beautiful music playing in Spokane! Maureen Boutz & Pat McHale, 2012 CTE Co-Chairs

Special thanks to Planning Committee members

We thank Megan Kasper at The Davenport Hotel and Elizabeth Mills at River Park Square for being wonderful partners in this project. Their assistance was invaluable.
