Charities ServedMount St. Vincent Foster HomeOn March 8th, the RRC Bowling League invited 27 kids from Mount St. Vincent to bowl in our place. With the

partnership of Lucky Strike Belmar, 27 foster kids bowled for two hours, each having a dedicated ‘best friend’ from our league for the night. We supplied sodas and

appetizers. Upon the conclusion of this event we had two of our members inquire about mentoring

opportunities and are currently in the approval process for becoming a permanent mentor for an MSV child. We have held brainstorming meetings with MSV and have

several projects in the works including onsite fitness programs, onsite rock climbing coaching on a mobile

rock wall, RRC participation in their May 27th field day, and RRC participation on several Summer retreats.

Sox PlaceSox Place provides a safe-haven home in downtown

Denver serving homeless teens. Members from our sports ministry served Sox Place by building shelving units in the

basement to store donated clothes and other donated items. We also had a team from our soccer and running groups spend a Saturday morning organizing and storing

these items onto the shelves in order to make room for indoor skateboarding. We are currently working with Sox

Place to help provide volunteers for their Child Development Program for the babies and toddlers of the homeless teens.

Dayspring MinistriesOn Saturday, February 13, RRC Sports Ministry

partnered with Kody Smith of Fit Body Bootcamp to put on the first annual ‘Burn the Fat, Feed the Hungry’ workout-a-thon. We hosted 150 participants over a 3-

hour workout in the main sanctuary and raised $1,000 for Dayspring Ministries and their Our Father’s House

orphanage in Haiti. Of the 150 participants, only 42 were members of Red Rocks Church so we were able to expose members of the community to our church while

raising awareness for fitness and the Haitian orphanage.

The Denver Rescue MissionOn March 8th serving event at the Lucky Strike Belmar, we also hosted a food drive to collect donated food and

hygiene products for families served by the Denver Rescue Mission. Over $500 in donated items were purchased, put into plump full food bags, and delivered

to the downtown shelter. We had 21 volunteers participate in this effort to not only organize and bag the

items, but we also had a group of 6 (pictured below) make 160 homemade cookies which we put into care packages with personalized encouragement cards for

the families. We also raised $150 in our 3-Frame Bowling Challenge in which the proceeds went directly towards

this effort.

Miracle on 19th St.Six members from our sports ministry participated in the Christmas day event at the Chop House restaurant

downtown to feed the homeless who are bussed in from several local shelters. Our volunteers helped serve food,

bus and clean tables, and even provided the Mr. & Mrs. Clause entertainment for the children. This event is hosted by The Rock Bottom Foundation.

Other Charities Contacted1) We held a great meeting with the Area Director for the

Colorado Special Olympics. We are putting plans in

place to contribute volunteers for their Summer Classic event in July as well as organize RRC Unified Sports

teams teaming disabled with non-disabled athletes to compete in Unified Sports leagues.

2) We supported Jill Johnson’s effort by supplying seven

volunteers for the ‘Mountain Mardi Gras’ event for the Preservation Limb Society.

3) We spoke with Josh Trujillo of Save Our Youth and they currently do not have a need for sports programs or volunteers. We plan to stay in touch as a ready resource

if needed.

RRC Sports & ActivitiesRRC Bowling League 201012 teams combining for 80 bowlers are participating in our 2010 bowling league. We have three teams of individual registrants who we combined with other

individual registrants. All three teams have mixed nicely which is important to our ministry as we look to forge

new relationships and work to deepen existing relationships as this not only helps in church member retention, but it helps when service opportunities arise

and our members feel comfortable serving with other members. The Aquaknox (pictured right) are one of these

teams and as you can see, they are getting along great.

3-Month Fitness Challenge In partnership with Fit Body Bootcamp we have

organized a 3-month fitness challenge for the members and friends of RRC. We have 34 participants who meet

every Saturday morning at 9am as a group and then hold each other accountable to working out regularly throughout the week at the Fit Body gym or a gym of

our own. Participants are rewarded monthly on various fitness goals. We are in our 5th week and we have

participants who have lost 10”, 7.5”, & 7” around his/her waist. Our goal is to improve the overall health of our church members by educating on health and

wellness throughout these three months.

RRC Indoor Soccer TeamsWe have two RRC indoor soccer teams currently

participating in the Sports Monster league at the Golden Goal. 24 participants make up these teams and all but one have signed back up to play in the Spring leagues.

RRC Active GroupsWe have formed several Active Groups during the first quarter including the Running, Mountain Biking, Rock Climbing, and

Hiking groups. These groups serve as “small groups” which gather around a physical activity of common interest. We require these groups to make serving our partnered charities/

ministries an essential aspect of their activity. For example, the Rock Climbing Group will be bringing a mobile rock

climbing wall to MSV Home this Spring to teach the kids how to rock climb.

Important Items to NoteSponsorship ProgramOur sponsorship program is now in place as we are seeking funds to continue building our programs for our partnered charities. Our vision also includes building our own facilities with an indoor gym and outdoor field to host clinics, leagues, and other events for our adult and children ministry programs.

Sports & Activities WebsiteWe are in the process of developing a functional website for the sports ministry using Google’s free site building tools. Our site can be found at http://sports.redrockschurch.com

Bowling ShirtsOur 2010 bowling t-shirts are in print and will be handed to all bowling participants at week’s end. All sponsors are displayed on the back of each shirt.

Team Photo FramesEach participant will receive a Red Rocks bifold photo frame displaying his/her team picture on one side and all sponsors’ logos on the other. We believe participants will display these photos on work desks or in homes which will increase exposure to sponsors’ brands.
