Inspiration For The Week Presumption can be a great sin. We can easily convince ourselves that as long as we do the bare minimum or master the basics, it is sufficient. Love doesn’t operate this way. If we are truly in love with God, then the basics are not going to be enough. That love is going to want to get expressed in going above and beyond, in leaving the comfortable and familiar, in stretching and growing and in following a voice other than our own. This is what those who are truly in pursuit of wisdom come to realize. Just like any human relationship worth achieving reveals, we never reach a plateau in following the Gospel or growing in wisdom and holiness. Wisdom is the rudder that guides us through all of life’s attractions and options. It alone determines what is worth pursuing and what must be left behind. That is why those who are only concerned about checking the boxes and doing the least amount possible often walk away sad when offered God’s gift of life eternal. They are not truly in love.

Spiritual Warfare Rosary For the intentions of our Blessed Mother, all four mysteries of the Rosary are prayed every Wednesday at 6:00 pm in the Church and Fr. Joe invites us to join him. Whether you bring a rosary or use your fingers, the most important thing is that we always pray with our hearts.

Faith-filled parents want their children to be faithful, too, and happy and eager to come to Church on Sunday mornings! In order to help moms and dads instill that eagerness and joy in their kids, we have brought back

KFC, which is short for: Kids For Christ! Children who are 2 years old through Kindergarten, will have an hour of fun listening to bible stories, playing games, drawing and coloring pictures for our church bulletin!

When: Every Sunday during the 9 o’clock Mass.

Where: Classroom at the far end of the school hall.

Cost: Free Will Offering is appreciated, but not required.

May God reward those who gave a sacrificial gift to the 2nd collection this weekend. Eight weeks ago, the massive category 4 Hurricane Ida killed dozens of people in the southern United States and along the eastern seaboard. Many people lost their homes and businesses. Some are still not able to return to their homes because they have no power or clean water.

This year’s McHenry County Catholic Prayer Breakfast will be held on Saturday, October 30th! The day will begin at 7:30 am, with Holy Mass at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, 1923 S. McHenry Ave., in Crystal Lake. Breakfast will be served at 9:00 am at D’Andrea, 4419 US Hwy 14 in Crystal Lake.

To paraphrase former President Lyndon B. Johnson “We come to you with heavy hearts!” Our reasons for saying this is because Elvira and I are moving to Macon, Missouri on October 15th.

Our decision to move was made after much prayer and thought. Both our daughters are gown and out of the area. One in Ohio and the other in Wisconsin. Also, Elvira is from Missouri and still has siblings there. We met in college at Northeast Missouri State University (now Truman State University), Kirksville, MO.

It has been our honor to come to know and love many of you over the years. Also, I hope I have served you well as your Deacon. You all will always be in our thoughts and prayers. Our cell phone numbers will remain the same and if you are ever in the Macon area please contact us and stop by.

Join us for a fun afternoon of conversation, creativity, and snacking. You do not need to be skilled at knitting or crocheting. We are here to teach you or refresh your skills. Otherwise, fleece is available for blankets. The only requirement is the ability to use a pair of scissors and tie a knot. We will instruct you as you create a beautiful fleece blanket. There is a quantity of fleece and yarn looking for some creative hands to make it into a shawl or lap blanket. SQUARES MINISTRY

Right now, the abortion industry and their friends in the legislature are trying hard to repeal the Parental Notification Act in Illinois. This commonsense law requires only that a parent be notified 48 hours before an abortion clinic performs an abortion on their daughter.

This law provides foundational protection for girls by providing them with a support network and protecting them from sexual traffickers. Since the law was put in place, over 1,000 unborn babies have been saved each year in Illinois because of it.

We want to rally as a pro-life community — in Illinois and throughout the Midwest — to let our legislators know that we want to save Parental Notification. We’ve developed a petition that we’ll deliver to legislators in the upcoming session.

Please share this petition! This legislation has direct implications for Illinois, but also for neighboring states because Illinois would become the only state without Parental Notification, encouraging pregnant girls to cross borders into Illinois to get abortions.

bag with their picture at the end of the Mass a couple of weeks ago.

Within that bag we included the Confirmation or 1st Holy Communion student’s and parent’s name with their address. Please feel free to send the student a card or note of encouragement and introduce yourself as their special prayer partner. Our goal is to connect the families through prayer, letter writing, seeing each other at Mass and conversation. We pray that by being a Prayer Pal you can give encouragement and prayers to others and they in turn can bring encouragement and blessings to you.

A pastor went to his church office on Monday morning and found a dead mule in the churchyard. He called the police, but because there did not appear to be any foul play, the police told the pastor to call the health department.

The health department said since there was no health threat that he should call the sanitation department.

The sanitation manager said the pastor would have to get authorization from the mayor before the sanitation department could pick up the mule.

Now the pastor knew the mayor and was not too eager to call him. The mayor had a bad temper and was generally hard to deal with, but the pastor called him anyway.

The mayor true to form, began to grumble. Ranting and raving, he finally challenged the pastor, “Why did you call me anyway? Isn’t it your job to bury the dead?”

The pastor paused for a brief prayer and asked the Lord to direct his response. He was led to say, “Yes, Mayor, it is my job to bury the dead, but I always like to notify the next of kin first!”

Holy Communion - Parishioners confined to their homes, for an indefinite length of time due to illness or advanced age, may call the Office and request that the Holy Eucharist be brought to them on Sunday mornings.
