Wheel load-ers with special grapples and buckets for the timber indus-try are being used more and more often, in the same way as special solutions like the LogHandler.

Material handling machinesLiebherr timber material handlers are especially designed for log handling operations. Mainly used

in saw mills, timber yards and paper mills for perfect per-formance with high mobility and versatility. The new design and it´s advance engine and drive train technology are an integrated part of the Liebherr material handler.

Electric material handling machinesLiebherr electric material handling machines are multi-functional. Combined with the Liebherr

quick change system, the comprehensive range of working tools enables material handling machines to achieve a high degree of flexibility and diversity. The quiet electric drive system and the reliability of the hydraulic components re-duce the machine's maintenance costs considerably. Main-tenance costs are minimised and at the same time, any downtime of the material handling machines is reduced. The product range of electric machines from Liebherr produces very little noise. Wheel loaders


PerformanceThe Liebherr driveline allows different orientation for the Liebherr diesel engine. In the wheel loaders L 524 - L 556 the diesel engine is rotated through 90° and mounted transverse to the direction of travel, in the L 566 - L 580 it is mounted lengthways in the rear, with the output shaft facing back-wards. Compared to conventionally driven wheel loaders, the operating weight is much lower, the tipping load is high-er, and more material can be moved each operating hour.

PerformanceThe new electric-powered material handling equipment has been specially developed to deal with the particular require-ments of industrial material handling. A large spectrum of equipment and an uppercarriage optimised for large reaches makes it possible to cater for all waste and cargo handling requirements. With all of its major components manufactured inhouse and combined with the power of an electric motor, the drive train output maximises the machine's performance in terms of lift capacity, precision and work pace. The scope of this high performing equipment is enhanced considerably thanks to a track-fitted undercarriage.

ReliabilityWith more than 30 years of experience in designing elec-tric material handling equipment, Liebherr developed the new models EP 934 C, EP 944 C and EP 954 C to com-ply with every demand from the market. The layout of the machines was completely revised due to the compo-nents of the electric drive system, which means the unit is more than just a conversion of a conventional vehicle with diesel drive system. All of the important components of the electric drive system have been integrated in the existing ex-terior dimensions of the uppercarriage. Liebherr electric ma-terial handling machines offer a high level of reliability so that they can consistently fulfil their key functions when deployed in industrial areas. The already long service life of the hydrau-lic components is further enhanced by the low noise electric drive system. The drive concept, with just one electric motor, ensures that the high voltage is limited to the range of the switch cabinet and drive system and the low voltage func-tions are capable of being comprised in one terminal box.

ComfortTo allow the operator to concentrate optimally on his/her work and utilise the machine's maximum performance, all electric material handling machines feature an ergonomically designed driver's cab with high level of comfort and good all-round vision. The new electric material handling machines offer the same level of comfort as conventionally-driven ma-terial handling machines (layout of control elements, oper-ator's seat, climate control, large glazed surfaces, etc…). Thanks to low noise generation and the elimination of vibra-tions, the electric drive system provides greater comfort. For Liebherr, comfort also means easily accessible service and check points for all daily maintenance tasks on the machine in order to keep downtimes as minimal as possible.

EconomyInvesting in an electric material handling concept pays in the long term. Continually rising costs from conventional energies are a burden on operating costs and reduce prof-it margins considerably. Environmental factors and CO

emissions, in particular, are growing in importance with the choice of engines / motors and working methods. Liebherr telescopic handlers are particularly well suited to timber handling tasks thanks to their constructional design. Depending on the operation, the driving dynamics can be adapted at the touch of a button. Dynamic acceleration is made available for wood chip loading and handling, and soft acceleration is available for careful transportation of wood piles. The safety valves, fitted as standard, and the overload warning device, which prevents the machine from tipping over by isolating the working movements, assure safe work in any situation.


PerformanceAll movements of the working hydraulics as well as the travel direction can be controlled conveniently via the multifunction joystick. In this way, the left hand can always stay on the steering wheel for more safety. Depending on the degree the joystick is moved, the speed of the diesel engine is automatically adjusted and, with it, the speed of the working hydraulics. The smallest turning circle in its class enables trouble-free manoeuvring even in tight conditions.
