Altec has experience in the integration and application of laser systems

for both welding and marking applications. We have close working

relationships with some of the industry’s leading manufacturers of

laser sources and we can offer advice on the most appropriate type of

laser - CO2, YAG, Diode etc. for any specific application. We also have

a detailed understanding of the safety requirements in relation to laser

system installations.

For any special purpose automation system to operate

reliably, maintain anticipated production rates and produce

quality components, the concept and design must be

robust. Altec takes great pride in our ability to develop

automation concepts and solutions which not only meet

our customers current requirements, but which offer the

highest levels of flexibility where ever possible to cater for

next generation product variants. By designing our systems

in this way we are able to offer the highest levels of future-

proofing for our customers investment.

Successful Automation Begins With Innovative Design Concepts

Systems designed and built by Altec incorporate a diverse selection of processes and technologies such as Robots, Machine Vision,

Ultrasonic Welding, M.I.G Welding, Infra-Red Welding, Laser Welding, Laser Etching, Leak Testing, Adhesive Dispensing, Riveting, Screw

Driving and Press Systems. Altec designs and builds Electrical Control Systems and bespoke Functional Test systems in-house, and is also

able to offer a Build to Print facility.

Altec Special Purpose Production SystemsIntegrating Technology & Innovation

Many of the special purpose systems designed and built by Altec

incorporate technologies for joining individual components or sub

assemblies. We have experience in the

integration of a diverse range of systems

including:

• Laser Welding

• Infra-Red Welding

• M.I.G & Spot Welding

• Ultrasonic Welding

• Swaging

• Screw Driving

• Servo Presses

• Adhesive Dispensing

• Soldering

• Compliant Pin Technology

Quality inspection and verification is an essential element in todays

automated manufacturing systems. Machine vision systems now

offer a highly reliable and cost effective method of checking parts

for presence, verifying correct part type, position and orientation

and also generating offset data to allow dynamic placement of parts

by a robot. Altec has experience in the integration of a number

of different machine vision systems from the industry’s leading

suppliers.

Product validation, inspection and testing is a fundamental requirement

in todays modern manufacturing environment. Many applications

involve safety critical items where full traceability during manufacture is

a requirement, and Altec excels in this area.

Altec’s expertise in test and inspection applications encompasses

technologies such as servo-positioning systems, leak testing, electrical

testing, load cells, LDVT’s, lasers and vision as a means of acquiring

data which may in turn be transferred to systems such as RFID, bar

code and 2D/3D datamatrix codes. Data packages gathered during test

and inspection processes can then be stored or uploaded to customer

mainframe systems for future traceability requirements.

The flexibility, reliability and ever increasing performance of Robots

means that they are finding their way into many different application

areas. Altec integrates a comprehensive range of robot types from

SCARA systems to 6 Axis types from suppliers such as KUKA, FANUC,

ABB, YASKAWA and DENSO. Our engineers have experience of

installing and programming robots for applications such as Adhesive

Dispensing, Part Handling, Assembly plus M.I.G and Spot Welding.

Robots

All production system, whether they are manual, semi-automatic or fully automated require

some form of component location or fixturing. The level of sophistication required can differ

greatly depending upon the component and application. Altec has a long history of designing

and manufacturing jigs, fixtures and tooling which ensure consistent and accurate part location.
