Special Olympics at UCLA Information Session
Our Mission
1) To develop teamwork, self-confidence, and promote a healthy lifestyle within the context of athletics for our athletes
2)To provide safe and positive venues for communication, long-term relationship building, and mutual understanding between our service recipients and volunteers.
3)To raise awareness on issues related to the intellectuallydisabled community both within UCLA and the greater Los Angeles community at large.
Weekly Practices
• Weekly practices are held every Saturday morning from 9:45am-11:45am.
• Sports include: soccer, basketball, tennis, bocce ball, etc.
• Bus duty: supervised by directors and members in the morning before practice, 8:30am to 9:30am, and the afternoon after practice from 12:00pm to 1:00pm

1968, 1st Special Olympics took place In 1979, a UCLA student and the special
education teacher at Dorsey High School collaborated to form UCLA Special Olympics.
UCLA operates under Special Olympics of Southern California
