PRINCIPAL’S COMMENT
Wesley College has celebrated some outstanding successes in the last
month.
The U15 Rugby team travelled to Dunedin for the National Tournament
with U15s defeating some of the strongest rugby schools in the country to
claim the national title for the first time in our history. Congratulations to the
staff and boys involved, not only on the result, but also for your excellent
conduct on and off the field.
In the same week our 1st XIII League team claimed the New Zealand title in
the development grade at the National Tournament. Wetere Pompey (Year
12 student) was selected for the New Zealand Secondary Schools Rugby
League team. Congratulations Wetere.
Lopeti Mafi (Year 13 student) was also contracted by the Canterbury Bull-
dogs NRL team and begins his training in Sydney in November. Well done
Lopeti.
Congratulations to Sia Puamau (Year 13 student) who has been named
captain of the Counties Manukau U18s Women’s rugby team and to top off
an excellent series of results the Junior Boys Basketball team claimed the
title in the local competition. Congratulations boys.
Senior examinations have been the focus recently. Results will be returned
to students before the end of the term. Senior students are encouraged to
build on these results and to work hard to achieve better/higher results at the
end of the year. External NCEA examinations are not far away and our full
attention is required from this point forward.
Congratulations to Zuriel Togiatama and Savelina Vehikite two Year 12
students who are the first students this year to earn their NCEA Certificate
for their year level. This is a fantastic effort and shows what hard work can
produce. Good luck, Zuriel as you push on for an endorsement.
The election for the Board of Trustees student representative was conducted
on Friday, the 18th of September The result will be declared to the student
body before the end of the week.
