This was one of the best workshops I have attended in 17 years of my teaching experience. Xanthe Gresham, a globally acclaimed story-teller and performer from U.K. conducted this workshop. She managed to hold my interest and attention all along in the palm of her hand. She managed to convey simple events in words, images and sounds with so much ease. This workshop was accessible to all ages and abili-ties, very well suited for student exploration.

―There is a nip in the air‖….say the Tiny Tots…. Durga Puja is the greatest contribution of Kolkata that has been preserved honorably. Tiny Tots built up the festive mood when they became Dhakis( drummers)

from the countryside gathering in the classroom dancing merrily to the beating of their imaginary feathered drums.

They learnt more about Ma Durga through a slideshow and became aware that pandals were made up of paper, wood bamboos, clothes and any other materials. The Tiny Tots colored worksheets of Ma Durga once circle time was over…

Their work was displayed on the bulletin board outside…

To take back home with them, they did puja craft

An illuminating Diwali with the Tiny Tots With Diwali round the corner, Tiny Tots held a raft of activities to celebrate the festival with great spirit.

Coloring……Painting diyas……

Dough Ganesh….. Rangoli….It was a daunting task to get the board ready but we ended up adding charm and religious fervor to the atmosphere.

The little ones felt special, empowered and thrilled to see the board sparkle with lights.

CHRISTMAS CELEBRATIONS IN TINY TOTS…..

Tiny Tots are really feeling the Christmas fever. These little toddlers, along with all their teachers celebrated Christmas with a

festive spirit, great enthusiasm and wonder throughout the last week before their holidays. They participated in various activities

like dance, finger printing, paper tearing, Christmas rhymes and even dramatization. They loved decorating the Christmas tree

outside the classroom, creating a warm atmosphere.

Their squeals were heard as they saw their name up on the Santa List knowing their stockings would surely be full this year too!

Santa Toys with cotton and paper…Finger printing – Christmas tree Paper Tearing – Angels

Angels are all ready….. Life outside our classrooms…. Our reindeers…..Santa set on his sleigh…..

All this brought cheer to each child’s face, giving us the pleasure of joy and giving.

INTERNATIONAL DIMENSION We are working on the International School Award scheme (ISA) through the British Council that aims at imparting knowl-

edge with a partner school abroad. The nine projects we are working are related to the curriculum which we are following

in class. Thus ISA aims at bringing in international dimension to classrooms We are working with a partner school from UK which is St Bernadette's Catholic Primary School.

Our teachers and students have exchanged activities on various projects. These photos below shows the

global exchange on breakfast samples and exercise to lead a healthy life.

HEALTH IS WEALTH

Above are few photographs of our respected principal

with the parcel that we received from the school in UK.

Sir John Lillie Primary School is another wonderful school in UK with which we are communicating for the

project RIVERS AROUND THE WORLD. Here we are exchanging information on River Ganges and

Rivers Thames and River Mersey. These photos depict that our children ex-

plored about the river Ganges and made

charts. These are sent to the partner school

and vice versa.

Below are few more photographs of our respected Headmistress, teachers and group of students sending parcels of gifts for new

year and activities done to the partner school in UK.

LOOK FORWARD FOR MORE SIMILAIR ACTIVITES IN THE NEXT ISSUE. AT SCIS WE INCULCATE THE

HABBITS IN OUR STUDENTS TO RESEARCH A TOPIC THAT THEY ARE LEARNING.
