Southern Living Magazine Attn: Editorial Offices 2100 Lakeshore Drive Birmingham, AL 35209 Dear Southern Living, Café 123, the premier dinning location of Opelika with a taste of the south, would like to cordially invite you to an all-inclusive wine dinner. The dinner, sponsored by the Napa Cellars Winery on Dec. 4 2009 will feature a five-course meal. Each course is paired with select wine from the Napa Cellars Winery of Napa Valley, Cali. The Café is a hip, upscale dining facility located in the heart of Historic Downtown Opelika in what used to be an old soda jerk and drugstore. The Café maintains the same checkered tile floor, bar stools and cabinets from the old Haynie’s Drugstore. The drugstore used to be a popular hangout for local kids back in the 50’s and 60’s and now we like to think we are carrying on the tradition by becoming a popular destination for those looking for fine food and service in a unique atmosphere. The menu features fine food with Southern flare. Shrimp and grits, fried green tomatoes and beer battered asparagus are some of the Café’s popular appetizers. Executive Chef Eron Bass, the Opelika-Auburn News ‘09 chef of the year, hand cuts all of the filets, ribeyes and fresh fish before each night. The Café features a choice wine menu of bottles from the Napa Valley and European wine regions. For dessert the Café’s pastry chef prepares bread pudding and various cheesecakes from our proprietor, John Robert Wood’s, own family recipe. Please come, eat, drink and be merry.
