National Park Southern Konnevesi In Southern Konnevesi National Park, visitors can enjoy the wide open waters of the lake in a boat, or canoe through a maze of islands among smooth glaciated rocks and vertical rock walls. In the clear water, you will be able to catch a glimpse of the depths that are the domain of the wild lake brown trout. Breathtaking contrasts char- acterise this national park. You can trek from herbrich forests to high cliffs for a view over the magnificent landscape of the osprey. Discover green wooded hills and crystal clear waters Extending to the islands and shores of Lake Konnevesi, Southern Konnevesi National Park offers a unique wilderness experience for visitors arriving by boat, canoe or on foot. In the western part of the lake, the vast open waters and glaciated rock islands invite visitors to spend a summer day boating. The maze created by the Kodanovinen islands leads paddlers to ancient landscapes amidst vertical, shoreline cliffs. Boats or canoes can be launched from Häyrylän- ranta, Kivisalmi or Kalasatama in Hanhitaipale. At Enonniemi, the trail leads trekkers from old-growth forest guarded by giant aspen trees to the top of Kalajanvuori hill, where they can admire the magnificent views extending over the national park. The trails in the park are very demanding due to steep and rocky terrain. However, the trail between Kalaja parking area and Vuori- Kalaja campfire shelter is quite easy. This landscape is the home of the osprey and a large number of rare insect, plant and bird species. Lake Konnevesi and its rapids on the Rautalampi water- way are the domain of the threatened brown trout.
