before the event. Youll need this to get free
travel on the shuttle buses and also to register
once you arrive and be in with the chance to

Know which campuses to visit and allow for
travel time between them
We have shown which subject areas are based
on each of our campuses Higheld Campus,
Avenue Campus and the National
Oceanography Centre Southampton. Details
of our shuttle bus routes are also included.
Stop for a break
A wide variety of restaurants and cafs will be
open at various times between 08:00 and
18:00. Details can be found on the event
signage on Higheld Campus. Cafs at Avenue
Campus and the National Oceanography
Centre Southampton will also be open
throughout the day. Why not purchase your
food and refreshments and enjoy our free
lunch time concert in the Turner Sims; see theGeneral Events programme for more details.
Help is always on hand
If you are not sure how to get the most from
your day after reading this guide make your
way to Building 40 on Higheld Campus where
sta and students are on hand to assist you.
There are also information tents across
campus, where students can help point you in
the right direction. Student ambassadors are
also located at Avenue Campus and the
National Oceanography Centre Southampton.

For visitors with disabilities, a limited number
of wheelchairs are available from the
Welcome Desk located in Building 40.
The safety of our visitors is of paramount
importance, therefore unless you are
accompanied by a member of sta, please do
not enter any areas except general thoroughfares.
If a re alarm sounds, please vacate the building
by the nearest safest exit. A member of sta
will direct you to the assembly point.
First aiders will be located in front of Building 40
on Higheld Campus or at the main reception
desk on other campuses. The lost property
point is the Welcome Desk in Building 40 and
our meeting point is located outside Building 38
(Sta Social Centre) on Higheld Campus.

Thunderer Squadron The Defence Technical
Undergraduate Scheme
Thunderer Squadron is the Universitys very own Defence Technical Undergraduate Scheme (DTUS) Unit, one of only
four in the UK. DTUS is a sponsorship scheme run by the Defence Academy to provide engineering and technical
graduates to the Royal Navy, Army, Royal Air Force as well as the Defence Engineering and Science Group within the
Ministry of Defence. The scheme provides academic and nancial support alongside adventurous training and
sporting opportunities with the aim of promoting personal development and leadership
