Harmony Day

The aroma of cultural cuisine coming from the canteen could be smelt throughout

the school. Pizzas from Italy, Croissants from France, we had it all at South Wagga

Public School as we celebrated Harmony Day last Thursday.

Students wore orange as a symbol of unity, to show our support in cultural

diversity and an inclusive Australia. Harmony Day celebrates the fact that

Australians come from all over the world. Today there are over 24 million people

living in Australia who all contribute different ideas, religions, languages and

customs to our country. The diversity of people who live in Australia make it such

an interes ng and special place to live. It is celebrated around Australia each year

to celebrate our mul cultural society.

The central message at South Wagga Public School for Harmony Day was that

‘Everyone belongs’.

“Off This Planet” tour

This year is the 50th anniversary of the first moon landing, an amazing achievement for its  me. To celebrate this     occasion, the ‘Off this Planet’ team are touring Australia and visi ng schools to explain the history of Apollo and space.   This is an interac ve resource that supports our Stage 2 and Stage 3 students as they have been busy inves ga ng Earth and Space during their learning in science. Students learn all about the history of Apollo and it’s landing,         including ge ng up close and personal with an astronaut’s suit and learn more about the astronauts behind this      historical event. Accompanying this traveling show is the ‘Starlab’, an interac ve dome that engages students in       projec ons of the solar system, moon phases, space travel and the night sky.   This is an exci ng opportunity for our students to experience learning ac vi es, suppor ve of our programs, in a unique and engaging way.

PSSA Netball

On  22 March Milla,  Abbey  and  Holly  competed  in  the  PSSA  Netball

trials at the Equex Netball Centre.

All girls played really well with Milla being successful to try out for the

Riverina team in Albury on 3 April.

Well done girls.
