We have certainly hit the ground running with our Athlecs Carnival on the first day back. Congratulaons to all the students who did their best on the day and thank you to all our parents and friends that volunteered their me running events and at the canteen. The winning house was Wale. It was also great to see new records set on the day. State Representatives for Swimming Our students (pictured above) represented the Riverina region at the NSW PSSA Swimming Championships. We are very proud of our team and their achievements to represent at this level. ANZAC Day Our students (pictured over the page) represented our school community in the annual ANZAC parade during the holidays. This is such an honour for our school to be a part of this significant event. Riverina Dance Festival Success Our students have been selected for a consecuve year to perform at the Riverina Dance Fesval which will be held in Griffith on Friday 21 June. This is such an incredible achievement for our girls. They have been praccing their dance from Term 4 last year and their hard work and dedicaon has paid off. Tickets are on sale Monday 13 May. Learning @ SWPS: Showing Empathy Next week we will be focusing on developing our skills of empathy. Empathy involves caring for other people and understanding that I may feel differently to others about something. Student thinking may include: I will aim to put myself in other peoples shoes to help me understand their perspectives. I will respect other peoples ideas a comments, even though I may not agree. I will pay full attention to others and listen to them. I will try to understand other peoples emotions and thoughts behind their words. Through being empathec, SWPS aims to bring students closer together, reduce conflicts and open studenteyes. Collecting earn & learn

A message from our Principal

Welcome back to Term 2!

We have certainly hit the ground running with our Athletics Carnival on the

first day back. Congratulations to all the students who did their best on the

day and thank you to all our parents and friends that volunteered their time

running events and at the canteen. The winning house was Wattle. It was

also great to see new records set on the day.

State Representatives for Swimming

Our students (pictured above) represented the Riverina region at the NSW

PSSA Swimming Championships. We are very proud of our team and their

achievements to represent at this level.

ANZAC Day

Our students (pictured over the page) represented our school community in

the annual ANZAC parade during the holidays. This is such an honour for our

Kindergarten and Stage 2 Gymnastics Program

The gymnastics program for Kindergarten and Stage 2

students starts next Tuesday 7 May for 8 weeks. Please

note there will be no lesson in week 3 due to NAPLAN.

Notes and money due.

P&C Trivia Night– Friday 24 May

Save the date and start gathering your trivia experts for

your table! It is set to be a fun-filled night of laughs and

friendly competition. Tickets/tables go on sale on

Monday 6 May. The event will be held at 7:00pm at

Wagga Wagga High School. Please come along and

support the P&C Fundraising event.

Mortimer Shield and Girls League Tag

Both boys and girls teams were undefeated in the

carnival yesterday. Both teams will now progress to the

next rounds as part of the NSW PSSA schools knockout.

The best and fairest for the day were Henry Keough and

Marley Richards. A tremendous effort by all! The

students were also treated with a visit from the

Canberra Raiders.

What a great day we had at the Athletics Carnival. Well done to everyone who competed in the events. We had 3 records set.

Holly Williams in Long Jump, Sunny Martens in High Jump and Coco Martens in High Jump

Girls: Junior: Coco Martens, 11yrs: Milla Pavitt, Senior: Milla Burkinshaw

Boys: Junior: Angus Banks, 11yrs Yasiru Perera, Senior: Gilbert Ruwald and Otis Irvin.

A big thankyou to all the parent helpers, our day wouldn’t run without your assistance.

Infants Reward Day

At the end of Term 1, Infants students were thrilled to participate in a Reward Day for consistently displaying our school values.

Kindergarten enjoyed an ice cream and social play time, with some impressive dressing up and building! Year 1 and 2 enjoyed a

movie afternoon with delicious snacks and chill out time.

Welcome back for Term 2 The SWPS P&C is gearing up for another busy term

with a few things already in the calendar. Please see

below for ways you can help out this term:

1. The SWPS P&C will be running a bacon and egg

roll BBQ at the upcoming election on Saturday

18 May 2019. Donations of farm fresh or store

purchased eggs would be greatly appreciated. If

you can help out with a dozen eggs or so please
