CHRISTMAS MESSAGE
Graduation assembly
This will occur on the last day of term, this Thursday 17th December starting at 8.50 am in the school’s undercover area. Our year Sixes will be graduating and receiving their graduation packs, there will be other presentations as well. This is always a good assembly and I hope to see as many parents of our year Sixes as possible – some may-be for the last time! This can be a sad time, but also an
exciting one for our graduating class.
On the last day, I ask parents who wish to take their kids home after assembly to see the classroom teacher to sign their child out – as it is a prescribed school day that is
recorded on the attendance register.
Parent morning tea
Straight after the graduation assembly I invite all parents to stay on and join us in a morning tea. Have a cuppa and a cake and celebrate with us the end of another success-ful school year. This is a lovely time just to unwind as the year Sixes have their shirts signed by classmates and
catch-up possibly for the last time.
2016 commencement
School recommences for students on Monday 1st February. As always the class lists and their room numbers will be placed on notice boards in the UCA, on that first day. I will be in the UCA with our 2 Deputies to assist on the morning. The staff have done a great job ensuring that the classes are constructed to meet the needs of the children. A lot of thought goes into the making of the respective classes and I believe we get it
right pretty much all of the time. I would ask that you prepare your child/ren through the holidays for their next year ahead. Do this by explaining that it is a new year that brings new social and academic opportunities. Our PP students have received an additional letter for parents today explaining further details that will hopefully make
day one a smoother one for students and parents
Parent Survey
Students were given a reminder note yesterday regarding several school opportunities. One of these was the parent survey where our parent body has the opportunity to provide the school with some feedback. The note contained the web link that will take parents straight to the questionnaire. We would like all of our parents to participate, so if you have not got the link please see our
friendly office staff to get the original note.
School Development Days – 2016
Public schools are required to have 7 school development
days throughout the year.
There are 2 at the beginning of the year, 1 at the end of the year and 1 that starts each of terms 2, 3 and 4. We have one day that our school board can approve for where the school sees fit to use it. That day will be Tuesday 7th June, the day after the WA Day long weekend. This will
give families the opportunity to have a 4 day break.
Warmest wishes for a wonderful festive season and
summer holidays.

Ibu Zulsdorf and Mbak Candrika have been teaching the girls the dance which was also performed at the Interschool Indonesian quiz and school fete last month. Thank you to everyone who has made their voluntary contributions already this year. Please make your payments at the school

collected helps our children. $45.00 per primary and $40.00 per pre primary and kindy student is the amount due for 2015. A
very small amount of money that makes such a big difference to our school funds.
Our aim is to reach 100%.

Supporting children’s motivation
Parents and carers play an important role in supporting the development of motivation in young children. Children feel
safe and free to explore when they have warm and trusting relationships with significant adults in their lives.
Recognising children's efforts rather than their achievements supports the development of children's self-motivation.
What motivates children changes as they get older. Arranging developmentally appropriate experiences for children
gives them many opportunities to experience success and mastery through their effort which will help to keep them
motivated. Experiences should be pitched at the right level, not too hard, but not too easy either. Activities need to be
challenging enough to maintain children's attention and require persistent effort to achieve success. Children may
become bored if things are too easy. However, if things are too challenging, children can become disheartened and
begin to give up. They may not be motivated to try if they don't think they can do it.
It’s Pantomime time again, so the BMCG Pantomaniacs are staging their own special version at the Lyric theatre from Jan 15th to 24th. So bring along your oohs and aahs and loud hurrahs and at $15 single/$50 family this would make the
perfect Christmas gift as tickets are available now from BREC.
