INTRODUCTION The South Australia PBC Funding and Training Guide brings together information about funding opportunities, programs, services and other resources that may be useful to Prescribed Bodies Corporate (PBCs), also known as Registered Native Title Bodies Corporate (RNTBCs).1 This guide was developed in response to recommendations from PBCs at national and regional meetings for more information about funding and training opportunities. This guide is designed to be used primarily as an on-line resource and throughout the guide you will find links to access additional on-line information. This toolkit includes information about:

The PBC website is currently being looked after by the Native Title Research Unit at AIATSIS, who are also coordinating a national email network of PBCs. 1 The term prescribed body corporate (PBC) derives from Part 2 Division 6 of the Native Title Act 1993 (Cth) (NTA), which provides that a PBC must be determined to manage native title rights and interests. The
Native Title (Prescribed Bodies Corporate) Regulations 1999 prescribe the form or types of bodies that may be nominated when a determination recognising native title has been made. The term Registered Native
Title Body Corporate (RNTBC) derives from the NTA and describes the organisation that is determined by the Court and entered on the National Native Title Register. Under the Corporations (Aboriginal and Torres
Strait Islander) Act 2006 an RNTBC will be required to have the words ‘registered native title body corporate’ or the abbreviation ‘RNTBC’ as part of its name. For the purpose of this document from this point
forward the abbreviation PBCs will be used to refer to Prescribed Bodies Corporate and Registered Native Title Bodies Corporate.

Department of Transport, Planning and Infrastructure Community Grants
The Department of Planning, Transport and Infrastructure, with support from the Motor Accident Commission is offering grants for groups and organisations to deliver small scale projects that support safer, greener and more active travel choices. Projects can focus on improving road safety, getting people cycling, walking or catching public transport, replacing car journeys with technology, doing things locally, or using the car smarter.

Community Support
Fund My Community A grant program that will trial a new approach to government grant funding.
It will offer grants of between $10,000 and $100,000 (excluding GST) to eligible community organisations to deliver projects that will measurably improve the well-being, quality of life and participation of disadvantaged South Australians. The community will be involved in deciding what projects receive funding.

Multicultural SA Grants
Multicultural Grants are for all multicultural projects however priority will be given to projects that support women, youth or rural and remote communities.
The Multicultural Grants aim to:
increase understanding of the culturally diverse community in which we live
celebrate and value cultural diversity
improve equality and acceptance in society
increase participation by South Australians of all backgrounds in society.

Organisations should apply six months prior to the commencement of a project or event. The Grants Advisory Committee meets five times a year to assess applications. Grants will be made available five times per year.

Volunteer Support Fund
The Office for Volunteers Volunteer Support Fund provides grants of up to $3,000 for community organisations to support their volunteers.
The grants support community organisations to provide training and resources for volunteers.
Organisations must be community based, not-for-profit and incorporated (or auspiced) to be eligible to apply.

Volunteer Training Grants
The Volunteer Training Grants 2015 program recognises the value of providing free training for volunteers and volunteer managers and is designed to boost their skills and experience to meet the needs of local communities and services.
Grants of up to $10,000 towards the cost of training course/s will assist volunteers and volunteer managers from not-for-profit incorporated community organisations to:
get the skills and qualifications they need
meet the identified training needs of the local community.

Community Museums Fund
The CMP Grant Fund is specifically for museums that are registered or accredited in History SA's Community Museums Program. It provides funding for displays, collection management and conservation projects.

Coastal participation grants (local community)
The coastal participation grants program provided by the Coast Protection Board supports ongoing local community participation in coastal management. The grants are delivered through coastal councils to ensure that the existing partnership between the state government and local government continues.

Native Vegetation Incentives Program
The Native Vegetation Council (NVC) provides funding for a variety of research and conservation projects that promote the responsible and ongoing management of native vegetation in South Australia through the Native Vegetation Incentives Program.

Recreational Fishing Grants Program
The South Australian Recreational Fishing Grants will invest in projects that could include, but are not limited to:
Increasing interest and skills in recreational fishing through family fun days or training days
Improving access and security (paths, board walks, fishing platforms)
Improving recreational fishing small infrastructure, such as cooking stations, fish cleaning stations, seating, barbeque areas and toilets
Fish restocking and habitat restoration in suitable areas that are open to recreational fishing.

Youth Youth Volunteer Scholarship Awards
The Office for Volunteers Youth Volunteer Scholarship Awards reward young South Australians, aged 25 years and under, who volunteer their time and talents to help others in the community.
Scholarships are awarded in recognition of young volunteers who are currently involved in volunteering, have a history of community participation, and who have demonstrated their personal motivation and interest in volunteering and helping others in the community.
Winners of the scholarship awards will receive financial assistance to help them with tuition fees associated with attending their chosen field of study at a university, TAFE SA, or vocational college course.

The Policy and Community Development Division, Department for Communities and Social Inclusion is presenting a series of grant information sessions across the state in partnership with other government agencies.

2 TRAINING INFORMATION
PBC directors, members and staff may require training to ensure that they are able to deal with issues of decision making, dispute management, communication, governance, business management, as well as land and resource management. 3 OTHER ASSISTANCE
Native title holders, through PBCs, may seek to establish relationships with a range of organisations that may be able to provide assistance, advice, information or resources.
Native Title Representative Bodies (NTRBs) and Native Title Service Providers (NTSPs) are key sources of assistance for PBCs. The roles and functions of NTRBs and NTSPs include providing assistance to native title holders in relation to native title applications, future acts, Indigenous land use agreements, rights of access and other matters.

Through the Department of State Development, Aboriginal Participation Brokers work in regions to facilitate and broker strategic and operational solutions to local learning, training and employment needs, and in particular to prepare Aboriginal people for local jobs identified by employers.

Business Support
The Sustainable Community Online Engagement Project
The Sustainable Online Community Engagement Project is a joint venture between The University of South Australia and the South Australian Government, through the Office for Volunteers.
Organisations that are seeking the design of a website, print materials or film and television production services are matched with students undertaking nominated courses offered within the School of Communication, International Studies and Languages. The students work with their allocated voluntary community group throughout the semester. Ongoing support to community groups is provided online by a project officer with funding support from the South Australian Government, Office for Volunteers. Face-to-face training has also been provided by the project officer and contract staff to ensure that community groups are able to maintain and develop their websites after the student(s) have exited the relationship.

The Department of Environment, Water and Natural Resources is taking a leading role on behalf of the Government of South Australia (SA) in implementing the Kungun Ngarrindjeri Yunnan Agreement. The KNYA is a contractual agreement between the Government of SA and the Ngarrindjeri Regional Authority.
