Dates that college reps will be on campus and ability to sign up
online.

website for you and your parents convenience
REGISTRATION INFO. REGISTRATION SHEET (must bring the day of
registration; you will meet individually with your counselor)
Math and Foreign Language need to have a “C” or better to move to next level
Parent and Student Signature and cell phonenumber are required on registration form
On track students must select at least five classes. Credit deficient students must select a minimum of 6 classes. Six classes is recommended
You must list 2 alternative classes or your counselor might select a class that you would not like

Art Design 1, 2(10 VAPA credits – 5 each semester)
This course is designed for beginning art students who wish toexplore a variety of artistic techniques including
Wire Portraiture, Metal Tooling, Scratch Art, Printmaking, Pointillism, Zentangle Design, and more!
The Elements of Art(Line, Shape, Form, Color, Texture, Space and Value)
The Principles of Design(Balance, Contrast, Unity, Repetition, Variety,
Pattern, Emphasis, Movement, and Scale).
Mediums introduced include Paint, Colored Pencil, Oil Pastel, Charcoal, India Ink, Chalk Pastel, Graphite,and Marker.
This course will not disappoint if you are looking for a fun, hands-on artistic experience.No experience necessary.
Subsequent visual art classes include Art Design 3, 4 and AP Studio Art.

Online and Hybrid Classes
Did you know that you can take 1 of your 6 classes as an
online or hybrid course? Hybrid courses require that you
have one on-campus meeting per week
(typically zero period on Wednesdays). Poly would like to
offer the following class as a hybrid class next year if we
have enough students sign up:
AP U.S. History
You can also take most core courses through Riverside
Virtual School (RVS) Ask your Counselor about this option!
Why take AP classes?
• 22 AP courses offered at Poly
• May earn college credit if score of 3, 4 or 5 on AP exam
(5 is the maximum score)
• Gain experience of taking college level courses
• Competitive colleges may recommend AP courses for
admission consideration.
• Consider the work load when enrolling in multiple AP classes –
don’t over load yourself PLEASE!
• Pick AP courses that interest you!

GRADUATION CONCERNS
Credit Deficient: less than 105 credits at the start
of your Junior year

track and explore post high school options
Letter will be sent home

If not on the list: come on the first day of summer
school to see if any openings arise (must have
application on file to be considered)

Attendance
Important Attendance Terms:
Chronic Absenteeism: Missing 10% or more of school in an academic year (both excused and unexcused absences). Example: In a 180 day school year, missing 18 days of school
Truancy: Three unexcused absences or unexcused tardies, of more than 30 minutes, or any combination of the two, in one school year (Ed. Code 48260)
