PRINCIPAL’S NEWS As we enter the final week of Term 2 we also see the end of an unprecedented time in education. We have been so appreciative of your support throughout the many changes we have all coped so brilliantly with this semester and look forward to a settled second semester of teaching and learning at Somersby PS.
A note was sent home last week to inform you all of the need to re-advertise the position of Principal. This process will be completed next term and I will continue to relieve as Principal until the successful applicant is appointed.
Term 3 Staffing Mrs Rogers will be spending her last day here with us on Friday and we have enjoyed having her here with us throughout the term.
Miss Suazo has made the decision to relocate at the end of the term and will be leaving Somersby PS. We are excited to welcome back Mr Alec Burton to teach 2/3/4 next term and welcome the familiarity and knowledge of our school he brings with him. Mr Burton will continue to follow the class program and an extensive hand over will take place this week.
If you have any questions or concerns regarding staffing for next term, please contact the office.
Reports Reports will be sent home today. Reports have been adjusted to reflect the impact of learning from home and at school in Terms 1 and 2. The report format is different to what you would normally receive from the school and there will be no A-E scale. Teachers have contacted all families regarding the progress of their child and we have appreciated the collegial conversations over the last few weeks.
The learning partnership we have shared during the learning from home phase was a wonderful opportunity to share the continuity of learning with families and we appreciate you all taking on the role of teacher and appreciate your time.
Sick Leave A note was sent home last week regarding guidelines for illness. We appreciate there will be colds and coughs at this time of year and appreciate the following of guidelines to keep everyone well. If you did not receive a note, please contact the office.
Assembly Last Thursday our School Leaders enjoyed the opportunity to engage in a Zoom assembly practise. Miss Ebert organised for Year 6 to read a story to the whole school using Zoom as an interactive platform, giving Year 6 the opportunity to see how they will be able to hold their first assembly this year using Zoom.
