Snippets

We have introduced messaging to the Sentral Parent Portal. This can be done via a phone, tablet or computer device. This allows parents and staff to communicate simular to text messaging but it is through Sentral.

We have uploaded a video on our Facebook page with instructions on how to use the messaging component of the Parent Portal and on Page 3 & 4 of Snippets you will find a step by step guide & expectations.

It has been wonderful being able to visit the classrooms over the past week to see the amazing learning achievements by students. This has included:

Students in all grade levels creating a story about our school mascot Roary.

Grade 1/2 students creating stories on IPad’s with their favourite characters.

The way children are using different problem solving strategies when completing their maths.

Fantastic poetry in our 3/4 classes.

The extended depth of reading skills in our 5/6 classes where they are able to interpret texts.

Foundation children being able to explain the different between Fiction and Non Fiction.

Our Foundation classes learning to code on the IPad.

Clay modelling in the Art.

The fantastic sportsmanship in PE.

Making clocks in the Auslan room.

I am very proud of our students and teachers for the awesome work.

Today the Victorian Government announced that all Victorians need to wear a face mask as of Sunday night. We will send home a hard copy letter tomorrow with more details.

We are still holding assemblies every Friday afternoon.

This is currently being conducted via Microsoft teams

where all classroom log in from their own classroom.

Assembly is also posted on Facebook for our school

community to view on Friday afternoons.

Victorian Premiers’ Reading Challenge

Read with your children, read to your children, encourage your children to read.

At South Street Primary School we know reading is important. Reading is a skill just like any other, to get better at it we practise it at our very own level.
