TOPOGRAPHICAL SURVEY AND LAYOUT

Topographical Survey including land and road survey and Layout

works at any construction site is undertaken by our qualified and

experience surveyors with total station and auto levels and thereby

preparation of plans on CAD. The instruments are of high accuracy

and thus the level of accuracy in works is also high. Detailed project

report for existing or new road is also prepared including cross-

sections at required interval.

GEOTECHNICAL INVESTIGATION

A. SOIL INVESTIGATION

The investigation program included drilling boreholes and collecting

soil samples at desired intervals for subsequent observation and

laboratory testing. The investigation program will consist of soil boring

and sampling at desired intervals for subsequent observation and

laboratory testing to determine the capacity of pile foundation

economically and safely.

B. PLATE LOAD TEST

Quick and easy to apply, the plate loading test checks the bearing

capacity and settlement of foundation soil and substrate. It is used to

ensure safe design and quality control. The plate loading test can be

used in conjunction with our other geotechnical tests to gain an

EARTH RESISTIVITY TEST

Resistivity surveys measure the ground's capacity to pass an

electrical current. This property can be utilised for designing earthing

systems for substations or specialist plant, and for measuring the

corrosion susceptibility of a buried pipeline or other buried steel

structures.

Proper design of an earthing system requires knowledge of the

ground resistivity. The information is obtained by a procedure known

as soil resistivity testing using an expanding 4-electrode Wenner array

(BS 7430). This measures soil resistivity as a function of depth at a

series of locations..

PAVEMENT DESIGN AND NON DESTRUCTIVE TESTING

A variety of the state-of the-art techniques are undertaken by well

trained engineers using well maintained and calibrated instruments,

Non destructive testing is also conducted by us e.g. Ultrasonic pulse

velocity, cover measurements, half-cell potential mapping, Schmidt

hammer, resistivity measurements, carbonation & chloride.

Topographical Survey

Before any design of a new development can take place a topographical survey needs to be

carried out.

Topographic surveying involves the production of maps which are true to scale. The maps are

produced to accurately represent both the built and natural environment.

The required detail of the topographic survey can vary from one project to another, we can tailor

the survey to the clients individual specification.

A network of control points is first established before observations are taken to the required

topographical features. Most commonly a combination of Total Stations, GPS receivers and Digital

Levels are used for data capture, the choice being largely dependent on site conditions: GPS is

best for large open sites, whilst total stations are better in built up areas or where there is a lot of

tree cover.

The topographic survey can be output in formats of AutoCAD DWG, as well as film and paper

copies.

From single houses to commercial or industrial sites to Greenfield sites we can produce complete

and accurate topographical models.

Setting Out

Soigné Engineering Consultant uses the latest surveying instrument and computer software to

provide an accurate and experienced setting out service, whether it be setting out houses, roads

or transferring drainage levels from engineer’s drawings.

Design information needs to be transferred onto the ground in a useful manner in order for

contractors to complete construction works. Wooden pegs, steel pins, profile boards and batter

rails may not seem technical at first sight, but setting out of such information is an important role of

the surveyor.

We have been involved in a large variety of schemes such as the initial earthworks of various road

construction projects, road alignments and other types of pavement construction, new housing

developments and piling location.

The setting out process can be vastly improved both in accuracy and in productivity if the survey

control and setting out data is available electronically


Soil Investigations

We offer a series of tests for various analysis of soil samples under excellent laboratory

conditions that deliver best results. Our unmatched tests are executed with utmost care and the

accurate results are delivered within promised time which has earned us huge recognition in the

market for over years.

Boring and SPT Tests

Bore-holes depths are varying from place to place, at locations indicated in the drawings or as

directed by the engineer-in-charge. Boring will be carried out with a 150 mm size diameter casing

by shell and auger, percussion boring will be resorted to where a difficult stratum is encountered.

Disturbed samples as and where undisturbed samples are not possible are taken for tests. Standard

penetration tests as per IS: 2131 will be performed in the bore - holes when stratum changes at

regular intervals of 1.5 meters from ground to termination depth.

Plate Load Test

Plate load test will be conducted as per IS :1888 with steel plates of 300- 750mm square with

sufficient thickness, not less than 25mm, at location and at a required depth below ground level.

The size of the pit for conducting the test will be as per the standards. Soil from undisturbed samples

is taken from the pit at every 500mm interval from ground to the bottom.

Field California Bearing Ratio (CBR) Test

The Field CBR Test will be carried out in field in the same method as Laboratory CBR test is done. A

load versus penetration curve will be drawn to obtain field CBR value.

Soil Resistivity & Earth Testing

Earthing systems provide a safe connection between an electrical circuit and the ground. They are

used for the dissipation of electrical faults, grounding lightning strikes and maintaining the correct

operation of electrical equipment. Proper design of an earthing system requires knowledge of the

ground resistivity. The information is obtained by a procedure known as soil resistivity testing using

an expanding 4-electrode Wenner array (BS 7430). This measures soil resistivity as a function of

depth at a series of locations. Earth testing is particularly important in areas of high resistivity ground,

where currents do not readily dissipate. In these conditions obtaining an earth is problematic, and

information on ground resistivity is required to much greater depths.

The resistance of an installed earth rod can also be tested to verify an earthing system. Using a

specially adapted testing procedure, the earth rod is connected with a two-electrode resistivity

system (IEEE 81 1983). The electrodes are so configured that the system measures the resistance of

the earth rod directly.


Quality Control

materials used will not jeopardise public safety and will provide value for money.

The two main areas of technical work are Materials testing and Quality Control.

Materials are tested for various reasons, for example: asphalts, concrete, road, etc for their

performance, etc.

Quality Control Involves Onsite Supervision of Material being used and conducting tests regularly as

per desired frequency so as to ensure that material being used is fit for construction and fulfils all

requirements.

The laboratory provides its service to govt. as well as private customer. Enquiries for specific areas of

testing can be made by asking concerned associates of the firm.

Quality Control Testing and site investigations for various structure and pipelines.

Structural Design Services

We also provide structural assistance to our in house design team. They also provide a direct design

service to a variety of clients including government agencies, private owners, building contractors

and architects.

Our structural design service considers the clients requirements from a simple beam installation to a

new build structure. We assess the various options available and provide the most practical, safe

and cost effective solution.
