Saraya Healthcare Hygiene combines a complete infection countermeasures system with hand

hygiene, surface disinfection, medical equipment reprocessing and personal protective equipment.

Our own research, academic support and education help healthcare professionals perform at their

best with reduced risk of infecting patients. Saraya is a supporter of leading healthcare related

guidelines and dedicated to improving hand hygiene compliance.

Elements of Healthcare Hygiene Improving Compliance

Patients are at risk of infection from multiple sources. Sarayas healthcare hygiene program helps reduce the potential for infection from hands,

surfaces, invasive medical instruments and endoscopes.

1 Hand HygieneHands are a major carrier of infectious

    microorganisms, which cause serious

complications or death in many patients

every year. Saraya provides a wide variety

of alcohol based hand disinfectants to

    prevent healthcare related infections.

Coupled wi th no- touch d i spense rs ,

natural hand soap, hand care lotion, and

    specialized education based on globally

    accepted guidelines, were working to

    reduce infections and make healthcare

    safer.

2 Surface DisinfectionKeeping surfaces and equipment germ-

free is a demanding task that requires fast-

acting products that are both safe and user-

    friendly. Airborne pathogens and constant

hand contact can make surfaces a hazard

to patient health, which is why Saraya has

    developed wipes and spray applications

to kill many types of pathogens such as

    MRSA, norovirus, and staphylococcus.

3 Instrument ReprocessingReusing instruments is a common yet

delicate task for any facility. Special care

must be taken to fully remove soiling so

    sterilizers can eliminate pathogens. Saraya

    Power Quick reprocessing treatments aid

in removing organic soiling manually or

    with automatic washers. Acecide paracetic

acid preparation is a fast-acting high level

    disinfectant, which can sterilize delicate

    instruments in minutes, including spores.

All Sara ya repr oces sing solu tion s are

    designed provide accurate and efficient

results with minimal time and effort.

4 Personal Protection EquipmentHand hygiene and surface disinfection

can provide a large degree of prevention

    against infection, but personal protective

    equipment, when used properly, allows

healthcare workers to care for critical

patients and perform invasive or potentially

    contaminating procedures with a lower

risk of causing infection. Nitrile gloves,

disposable aprons, and surgical masks are

essential to healthcare workers and the

health of those under their care.

Hand hygiene compliance is a major issue that all healthcare facilities face. Hand contact with

patients or their surroundings can lead to deadly or debilitating infections, which increase hospital

stays and treatment costs. While all healthcare professionals know the importance of hand hygiene

as a primary means to prevent nosocomial infections, the frequency and timing of alcohol hand

disinfectant usage by healthcare staff notoriously falls below acceptable levels of compliance.

Because of this, patients continue to get infected while receiving treatment at the one place

they should feel safe and protected. This issue is a highly discussed topic for infection control

researchers, and it remains essential to the betterment of public health.

Guidelines on hand hygiene in medical environments have been written by the World Health

Organization as well as national bodies and health ministries in Europe, Australia, and the United

States (CDC). These organizations have made great progress for hand hygiene compliance globally,

and it is of vital importance for hand hygiene companies to support these guidelines by providing

    the tools to promote compliance.

Saraya realizes the importance of hand hygiene guidelines, and provides options that allow hand

hygiene to be preformed at the point of care with bedside holders, personal sized hand disinfectant,

and no-touch dispensers, while educating the healthcare community about these guidelines to

improve hand hygiene compliance and reduce infections.

    01 Healthcare Hygiene

    Education

Hand hygiene, surface disinfection or instrument reprocessing without proper education and review may cause a reduction in efficacy of suchsanitation processes. Research is constantly being conducted on how to improve these daily tasks for healthcare staff to give safer care.

Saraya provides academic support through research, instruction and publications. In addition, we feel our users should be informed through

lectures conducted regularly by our staff and with leading experts in the industry.

As a hygiene comp any with a strong history of incorpor ating mechanical technology into our sy stems, wev e made efforts to combine

technology with education. Sarayas interactive educational tools for hand hygiene make instructing and reviewing hand hygiene easy for

    groups or alone.

    International Guidelines

The World Health Organization, the international body sanctioned by the United Nations to address

public health, has developed a new approach to hand hygiene through their recently updated

Guidelines on Hand Hygiene in Health Care, contained in the My 5 Moments for Hand Hygiene

program. This is specifically developed for the better understanding, training and monitoring of hand

hygiene. With this user-dedicated approach, healthcare facilities of all demographics can improve

hand hygiene from an easy to follow, practitioner standpoint. Support has quickly caught on,

showing that education geared toward the individual, rather than the academic community, has the

potential to increase compliance, and even increase enthusiasm for practicing proper hand hygiene.

Saraya supports the introduction of My 5 Moments of Hand Hygiene to Japan, and encourages its

    adoption worldwide.

    03 Public Health and Hygiene

A we ll maintai ned buildin g i s a lways targeting comfort, attracti veness and c leanlin ess. It is the

responsibility of the building owner or manager to provide standard hygienic features and washrooms

to prevent the spread of germs and infection while keeping a welcoming, professional appeal to

the building itself. Saraya Public Health & Hygiene contains the many hygiene amenities needed

to prevent outbreaks such as the cold and flu while increasing the manageability, cleanliness and

    comfort of a public facility.

Goals of Saraya Public Health & Hygiene Saraya =S Series for Toilet Amenities

Having a clean and comfortable washroom is important for the satisfaction of guests

and employees. Saraya is proud to introduce the =S public hygiene line of public

hygiene amenities. The =S line was created with style, comfort and reliability equally in

mind. Transform your buildings washrooms, entrances and public areas with Sarayas

total =S line up. Stylish and functional designs not only look good, but encourage their

use, allowing facilities and buildings to promote better hand hygiene and reduce the

    spread of germs and sickness.

Hand Hygiene DispensersSarayas hand hygiene dispensers are redesigned to clearly and stylishly promote hand hygiene.

Availab le i n no -touch for clean usage or m anual dispe nse. All =S dispe nsers feature lockin g

mechanisms and easy to replace cartridge bottles that work with foam soap, alcohol spray or alcohol

    gel interchangeably.

Toilet AmenitiesSome of the comforts in public spaces go unnoticed. Saraya

provides a number of amenities that help raise the comfort

and image of public spaces and washrooms. Each item is

designed for a more hygienic interior. Selections include no-

touch wastebaskets, toilet seat sanitizers and natural fragrance

    diffusers.

    Importance of Public Hygiene

Hand hygiene is the single most important way to prevent the spread of germs and

stay healthy in everyday situations. Public buildings provide many opportunities to

spread or pick up germs, which are usually invisible to most people. These places

include the many door knobs, faucets, telephones, keyboards, elevator buttons and

hand rails which we contact on a daily basis. Every time a person touches a surface,

they may be picking up bacteria or viruses left behind. This is how many pandemics

    and outbreaks spread.

Saraya develops and manufactures hygiene products for many different markets.

With Sarayas line of hand hygiene products you are getting the protection of our

healthcare lines with the gentleness of our household products.

    No-Touch Technology

Hands are constantly coming in contact with surfaces throughout the day, leaving

or picking up germs, and it is impossible to visibly tell if hands are contaminated

with pathogens. By reducing the surfaces our hands come in contact with we can

stay healthier, which is why Saraya has been developing no-touch, sensor activated

dispensers for 3 decades. No-touch dispensers are easy to use and users will not be

turned off by touching a potentially dirty surface, which is why no-touch dispensers

can greatly increase the effectiveness of any infection control or hand hygiene

    program.

With the recent outbreak of H1N1, the public is finally learning how easily infection spreads and how at risk we are

in public buildings. By providing alcohol hand disinfectant in public spaces, you are not only providing a service to

guests and patrons, but you are also helping create a healthier society. Sarayas =S (Equal S) line of public hygiene

amenities allow building managers to reduce the spread of infection.

    Infection Control

Regards to design and function are necessary factors when planning an interior, and when both factors can

be tied into a buildings health management program amazing things can happen. Saraya public hygiene

amenities are made to fit stylishly into your interior. No-touch dispensers increase cleanliness as well as the

    comfort of your patrons.

    Comfort and Cleanliness

Public washrooms should be easy to maintain by building managers and janitorial staff while being simple

for everybody who uses them. Saraya public hygiene products are designed with features that simplify

maintenance and raise the comfort level of washrooms without sacrificing style. All of our amenities are

functional, easy to refill, and pleasing to the eye while providing the best results in infection prevention and

    hand washing.
