Soft Furnishing Designer Basics
Table SkirtsRose Mary LeBlanc and Amanda Deal Smith
Table skirts are a fun and effective element that will add interest and function to a room design. You can use a table with a style that doesn’t fit with the rest of the room or a pre made ready to assemble table.
There are two basic styles of table skirt, round and fitted. The round skirt is just that – a circle of fabric with a finished edge all around and it can be unlined, lined or lined and interlined. A fitted table skirt has a flat top and a pleated skirt.
Let your imagination take a spin with this room element. Use coordinating fabrics, ruffles, trims or shaped bottoms to create a custom table skirt.
This bold plaid works well with the floral draperies.
A table placed next to a chair or sofa is the perfect spot to display mementos or set down a glass.
Toppers are square pieces of fabric in coordinating patterns that add interest to a table skirt. Trims can also be applied for a custom look.
This small round table is dressed out nicely with a skirt and a topper. The fringe is a nice detail and makes the topper really pop.
