DESIGN REVOLUTION

How modernEco-designs have inspired theVisual aesthetics of Everyday Living

Page 3: Society of Publication Designers Student Competition

Designers have started a trend by creating

innovative ideas to better our everyday lives

aesthetically and financially. Simplicity can help us

live longer and increase our overall well-being in many

ways. Starting with the intelligibility of our homes

structural design, can clear a path to saving money and

our atmosphere. Positioning windows, door frames

and vegetation in favor of sunlight and winds can be

a money saver (See Elevation Plan). In colder cli-

mates having a centralized fireplace has proven to be

the most

efficient way

to heat your

home, the duct

disperses the

warmth

throughout.

For lighting;

solar bulbs and CFL bulbs can create an interesting

aspect to any home. Other unique designs incorpo-

rate recycled materials such as straws. For cleaner air

bringing the outdoors inside can refresh in multiple

ways with rugs, walls, and fruit.

The sustainable design movement has been

with us all this time. Human beings have only

recently come around to building with an incentive

to preserve instead of demolish. With all the

resources lavishly provided to us by good ol’

Mother Nature, we have finally decided to work

with Her instead of against.

This idea isn’t new, if anything it was lost

for a short period. Let’s look at Native Americans

and their appreciation of nature. From the

moment they where born they were

taught to love and praise the plants,

creatures and their mere existance.

Simple as that.

As time has passed the process

and building materials used have

changed. Development of the existing

space was transformed for the purpose

of a different kind of green, money.

Now getting back to our roots; the

objective of letting nature into our doors and

harvesting the sun for more than getting a tan. Our

designs should be built to blend with the

environment, not discarding what we already

have.

mysterious personality and reputable skills. However, after he caught the

Ronald Jenkees real name is Benjamin Felts and was born in Kentucky. At

an early age began to pursue piano, Ben attempted to take piano lessons

but pulled out almost immediately. He was part of his high school

marching band for his senior year where he would jam out at state
