Social Network Service
Social Network 사람과 사람 사이의 연결 망으로 둘만의 관계뿐만 아니라 여러 가능한 모든
관계를 일컫는 것
Social Network Service 사람들간의 관계 유지를 목적으로 하는 ‘디지털 인맥과 인간 관계망’ 서비스
를 지칭하는 말 – from “Digital Marketing Internet Media : SNS Market report”
A social network service is a social software specially focused on the building and verifying of social networks for whatever purpose. – from “Wikipedia:social network service”
Many social network services are blog hosting services. As of 2007, there are MySpace, Facebook, LiveJournal, Linkedln, Cyworld, Classmates.com, Flickr, Yahoo 360

Offline relationship 을 online relationship으로 확장 미니홈피/클럽/포탈등 다양한 형태의 서비스를 제공
미니홈피의 일촌 맺기 기능은 지인과의 관계를 중심으로 이루어짐 일촌 파도 타기 기능을 통해 네트워크 상의 다른 사람들과의 커뮤니티 형성 사용자는 자기자신을 다양한 방법으로 미니홈피에 표현
– 사진첩, 동영상, 게시판 등 / 1인 미디어 Cyworld 내의 서비스는 상호 연동
– 예) 미니홈피와 클럽의 연동 실명 기반 서비스 부분적 유료 서비스 (배경음악, 스킨 등)

Cyworld Features
미니홈피/홈2 Cyworld의 가장 대표적인 서비스로 누구나 쉽게 미니홈피를 제작할 수 있으며 자기 표현의 공간으로
활용– Today is, 미니룸, 기타 다양한 기능 (사진첩, 동영상, 게시판)을 이용한 자기 자신 표현
일촌맺기 기능을 이용해 연결된 가입자들은 Social Network를 형성– 일촌끼리는 서로 개인정보 교환 가능
Contents 별로 일촌으로 연결된 사람들에게만 보여주는 일촌공개 기능 /그룹별 공개 수준 설정을 통해 Privacy 문제 해결
홈2는 미니홈피의 부족한 점들(RSS 지원, 작은 화면)을 개선하여 미니홈피를 확장한 서비스로 현재 미니홈피와 동시 서비스 중

– Basic Information : profile photo, email, mobile, addreses, city, country, website, sex, relationship status, looking for, hometown, political view, religious view

Cyworld/Facebook의 비교 유사성
Cyworld와 Facebook은 한국과 미국의 대표적 Social Network Service
Offline Relationship을 Online으로 옮겨왔다는 점과 기본적인 기능이 매우 유사함 Blog와는 차별적으로 지인이외에는 공개되지 않은 닫힌 형태의 Social Network Service
차별성 Facebook의 Network은 Profile을 통해 형성되며 Cyworld는 일촌 맺기 기능을 통해 Network이 형성 Facebook은 Social Network 상의 상대방이 어떤 일을 하고 있는지, 무엇을 했는지 알려주는 것에 초점 Cyworld는 일촌 파도 타기를 통한 인맥 확대에 초점 Facebook은 email이나 AIM등 자신이 쓰고 있는 application으로부터 Friend Network을 가져올 수 있으
나 Cyworld에는 이런 기능이 없음(자체 Instant Messenger인 Nateon과 연동)
Cyworld는 SKTelecom 휴대전화와 연동 가능 최근 Facebook은 Platform을 공개함으로써 Third Party Application의 길이 열림
– ‘Social OS’라는 용어의 등장 기타 비교
Facebook은 초창기 미국 내 학생들에게만 가입 허용하였으나 대중에게 공개 이후 빠른 성장 Cyworld는 누구나 간단하게 미니홈피를 만들수 있다는 것이 강점으로 작용하였으며 아이템 유료화 정
책으로 성공적인 커뮤니티 사이트 유료화 모델이 됨
