In line with its “Excellence in Education” strategic goal,Izmir University of Economics has adopted a

technology enhanced education model, which iscalled Smart Campus and provided students and

teaching staff with various education tools,equipment and software.

This guide aims to answer your questions and help

you make your transition quicker and easier.

Activating OASIS AccountActivating EkoID

EkoID enables you to access youruniversity email account, Emaxannouncement system, printingfacilities, and wifi on campus. You should visit to activate your EkoID and get yourOASIS login information. To activateyour EKOID please go to

Make sure you check the emailaccount provided by the university ona regular basis. All administrative andacademic announcements as well asthe notifications sent through thelearning management system areemailed to your university emailaddress. You can access your university emailthrough

Organizational Administrative StudentInformation System (OASIS) enablesyou to enroll in courses, check yourcourse grades, receive transcript andother documents.To activate your OASIS account go to andclick on the “Activate your account”link. Enter your student identificationnumber in “User ID” part, and click on“Activate” button.A temporary “OASIS” password will besent to your EkoID email addresswhich is std.izmirekonomi.edu.tr. Get your temporary password fromyour email, log into OASIS again, andchange your password and create aPIN number. Please avoid using Turkish characters(e.g. ş, ü, ç, ö, ı, İ) in your password.

You will use your Student ID numberand your OASIS password to accessBlackboard. Once enrolled, you willsee all your courses listed on your

Blackboard page.

Students will be able to access allof these features any time of theday via any medium with internetconnection.

Blackboard is used institutionallyto supplement face-to-facecourses, and/or to provide anycourse content for distanceeducation courses.

Blackboard Learn is an internet-based learning management system.

Instructors can easily communicatewith their students online andmanage class discussions andcollaborative projects using blogs,discussion boards and forums whichare available on Blackboard Learn.

BLACKBOARD LEARN INTERFACE

Institution: You will find resources, useful links, and otherimportant content related to the university. Profile: Allows you to manage your personal information,and modify your notification and privacy settings. Activity Stream: Shows you what’s new and what’s due inall your courses. It also allows you to jump directly intocourse activities right from the list.

Courses: Gives you access to your courses and the ability tosearch, filter, and even favorite them so they appear at thetop of the list.

Organizations: Here you can access the organizations thathave been set up by the TLC for students and instructors toshare important information, such as workshops andtraining sessions, and to provide instructional help.

Calendar: You can view all course, organization, institution,and personal events with ease. You can view events by day,week, or month. Messages: You can send a message to one person ormultiple people on the Messages page. Messages activityremains inside the system.

Grades: Shows students a list of recent grades, and theoverall grade for each course.

Institution Page You will find resources, useful

links, and other importantcontent related to the university.

Profile PageYou can manage your personalinformation and modify your

notification settings.

Activity Stream Use the Activity Stream

to quickly access themost important

information consolidatedfrom all your courses.

Courses You will view your courses as“cards” or you can view these

cards in a grid.

Search your courses and applyvarying filters. Once you findyour most important classes,click the star to favorite

them.They will appear at thetop of the page.

OrganizationsHere you can access the

organizations that have beenset up by the TLC for students

to share importantinformation, such as

workshops and trainingsessions, and to provide

instructional help.

Grades (Notlar)You can see your course

grades.

Messages View all your messagesfor all your courses on

one single page andcreate a message.

How to submit yourassignments on Blackboard

Learn

Choose the content that contains thehomework assignment on the course

menu. Your instructor can addassignments to different areas of

your course.

For example, your instructor mighthave created a menu item called

"Assignments". Ask your instructor ifyou have questions about how your

course is organized.

Click on name of the assignmentcreated by your instructor.

Review instructions, deadline and

grading criteria on Upload Assignmentpage and download the files, if any,that are provided by your instructor.

Read the instruction carefully.

Click on Browse My Computer andselect a file to attach. You could click

on "Do not Attach" if you haveuploaded the wrong file.

Finally, make sure you click on Submit.

A message and code that confirmsyour assignment has been sent will be

displayed. This code is also sent toyour university email address.

If you forget to click on Submit, yoursubmission will remain “in progress”

and your instructor will not be able tograde it.

HOW CAN I SEE MYGRADES ON

BLACKBOARD?

When you access the My Gradespanel from the menu of yourBlackboard course, you can seethe grades and the feedbackyou received for theassessments in all of yourcourses.

You can sort your grades by AllCourses or Last Graded. If yourwork hasn't been graded, gradestatus icons appear. You canselect an item's title to viewdetails.

BLACKBOARDCOLLABORATE

Blackboard Collaborate is thevirtual classroom (or webconferencing) tool which

enables voice, video and textinteraction between students

and instructors.

You can follow your activities inyour courses on the Blackboard.

PANOPTO is a video platformthat allows video recording,screencasting and video contentmanagement.

It allows instructors to record audio,video and the applications on theircomputer screen.

Panopto enables students to accesstheir course videos and watch thelessons on their computer, smartphone or tablet when they areunable to attend their classes orprepare for their assignments andexams.

Panopto is integrated in Blackboardand the video viewing is restricted tothe instructor and students enrolled inthat particular course.

To access Panopto video recordings, login to Blackboard and selectthe course you want to see the recordings for.

Click on "Panopto Video" link in thecourse menu.

A new page will load and your classvideos will be available for viewing.

strategic goal .

TLC aims to promote innovative andtechnology enhanced learning techniques

to help IUE students to become lifelonglearners and to inspire them to think

critically.

Therefore, TLC provides support andtraining to instructors and students in all

the instructional processes.

Academic workshops are free andopen to all IUE students.

The workshops cover a variety oftopics from time management andexam anxiety to job interviews andapplications.
