• Face to Face interactions increase understanding and uptake of data.

• Linking with existing infrastructure, systems and partners can extend KE reach

• Youth are important stakeholders but often overlooked

Page 4: Small Group Discussion on KE

KE Impacts

4. Senior management buy-in is critical to increasing KE capacity

5. Sharing success stories motivate & inspire others to take action

6. Grants tied to data can encourage data use in planning

Page 5: Small Group Discussion on KE

Next Steps

• Developing YHS 2012 KE strategy & workplan

• Objective: to support partners in building KE capacity

• Need your help and input!

Page 6: Small Group Discussion on KE

– Partnering with Saskatchewan as they develop their YHS system

Page 16: Small Group Discussion on KE

• Future Plans– Working towards consistent reporting of

the next YHS – Developing the 2012 YHS Report

template with an external writer– Development of KE workplan– Identifying future opportunities

Page 21: Small Group Discussion on KE

ARFS Pilot Project

Over the past year, ARFS has been:

1. Recruiting pilot communities2. Researching methodologies (PDA’s,

technology)3. Determining potential survey content

areas

Page 22: Small Group Discussion on KE

WARFS

• In October, ARFS presented a poster at the World Alliance for Risk Factor Surveillance annual conference

• 7 group members were able to attend this international conference, held in Toronto

• Offered a chance to meet international experts in the field of RFS and share our MB experience

Page 23: Small Group Discussion on KE

Share and Learn

• In December, ARFS was invited to participate in the Healthy Together Now Share and Learn

• Goal was to have participants provide input on info they would like to receive from the upcoming pilot project based on 11 possible content areas

• Themes and feedback will be used to guide the development of the Adult Health Survey (AHS)

Page 24: Small Group Discussion on KE

Moving Forward with ARFS

Where do we go from here?1. Continue to look for funding and

resources2. Develop Adult Health Survey tool3. Finalize survey methodologies4. Conduct the ARFS pilot
