Use• Forcible entry

– Used with halligan as commercial irons

• Breaking & breaching

Maintenance• Head

– Ensure head is secured to handle

– File any burrs– Apply a thin coat of WD40 to any

non painted metal surfaces– may paint black to prevent

rusting• Handle

– Check for cracks and splinters– Sand and coat with boiled

linseed oil– Wash fiberglass handles with

mild soap and water

Safety• Wear appropriate PPE

– Minimum of helmet, gloves, and eye protection

• Full turnouts and SCBA are required when utilizing tool in an IDLH atmosphere or making entry into a possible IDLH atmosphere

• Check surroundings prior to using tool• Ensure the tool is the right tool for the job
