Ground water sample was collected from the site and analysed as per the

procedures specified in the Standard Methods for the Examination of

Water and Wastewater published by American Public Health Association

(APHA). The ground water sample has been analysed for essential and

desirable characteristics of potable water as prescribed in IS:10500.

Analysis results have been compared with the desirable and permissible

drinking water standards of IS: 10500.

From tabulated values, it is observed from analyzed values of ground

water sample that there is no indication of contamination of ground water

at the site due to project activities and as per IS:10500 ground water

quality is fit for dinking.

Noise Measurements

Noise measurements were carried out at the project site using Sound

Level Meter. The 24-hourly sound levels were measured at each location

during 14 and 15 November 2014.

Equivalent Sound Energy Levels or Leq

Leq was computed using following the statistical relationship by the noise

levels recorded during measurements:

Leq = L50 + (L10 - L90)2 /60

Where L90 = the noise levels exceed 90 percent of the time

L50 = the noise levels exceed 50 percent of the time

L10 = the noise levels exceed 10 percent of the time

It may be noted here that L10, L50 and L90 values can be considered as

peak, average and background sound pressure levels at each location,

respectively.

Day and Night Time Leq Values

Day and night time Leq values have been computed from hourly Leq

values and given in Table 3 for November 2014, respectively.
