Saintly Wisdom

“Listen with the ear of your Heart” —- Prologue Rule of Benedict

Benedictine Life—A Call to Hospitality

I've been coming to Our Lady of Guadalupe Monastery for about 4 years. After moving back from Peoria, IL 6 years ago, I was looking for a smaller parish/place to attend mass regularly. I wanted it to be a place I could get involved (as I had been in my prior parish in IL); and have that small community feeling. This is exactly what I've found & continue to feel here with Sisters Linda and Lydia, all the Oblates and faith community as they greet you with warm welcomes each Sunday.

I discovered this Monastery by chance as I read through a Phoenix ND Club newsletter. I was pleasantly surprised to discover such a serene place that offered a little piece of paradise here in west Phoenix. I love to sit and enjoy nature's beauty as I reflect near the grotto or take a walk along the Stations of the Cross and enjoy the peacefulness of this property.

I enjoy helping in the organic garden on Saturday mornings (my free workouts), assisting in the kitchen for retreats and/or whatev-er else I can be of Service.

I continue to grow spiritually with the help of our Benedictine Oblate gatherings; and find my life has become more fulfilling. I've gained a better understanding of Life and Prayer. Ah yes Prayer! I have learned a deeper and richer form of prayer called Lectio Divina; Read, Meditate, Pray, and Contemplate.

A perfect way to listen closely to God's words as we engage in conversation with him more intimately.

As St. Benedict stated "Listen and attend with the "ear of the heart".

— Teresa M. Fandel, Oblate 2017

Prayer Corner

Prayer for today: Father we praise you together and thank

you with all our hearts for your goodness and your deliver-

ance from our many needs. Accept our thanks, and help us

go on our way with ever joyful hearts. Make us ready for

whatever you have prepared for us, your children. Bless us

in our individual lives and bless us in our community. Let

your Spirit shed its rays into all places to comfort people’s

hearts and to restore and strengthen their faith. Amen.

We pray for the safety of our kids going out on Halloween.

We pray for peace for our country.

We pray for those working their ministries within the Monas-

tery community.

We pray for the homeless and hungry.

We pray for peaceful elections.

**Pray for each other, it is our greatest gift to others.**
