Sir Alan Ast Installed to 4th term as Supreme Treasurer

On Friday, September 14, 2018, Supreme Treasurer Sir Alan Ast wasinstalled to a 4th term by Past Supreme Chancellor Sir Alan Krell in a specialceremony at FDR Lodge #613 in Brooklyn with many of Alan's friends andfraternal brothers in the Order in attendance.

Alan Ast, a certified public accountant, has provided accounting services asa sole practitioner for more than 3 dozen years. Alan is married to Caryn and theyhave two daughters, Samantha and Rebecca.
Grand Chancellor (GC) David Stanger, who leads the Domain of New York,stated, “Alan’s Pythian career began in 1986 at New City Lodge at Caryn’s urging.From the onset, Alan took an active role in committee and ritual work at New CityLodge culminating with his election as Chancellor Commander.” Alan remainsactive in Grand Lodge, New City Orangetown Lodge #854 and FDR Lodge wherehe is a dual additional member.
Past Supreme Chancellor Krell welcomed the opportunity to install thePythian who succeeded him as Grand Treasurer in 2004, noting that Alanpreviously served the New York Grand Lodge in many positions including as amember of its Ritual Team, a Deputy Grand Chancellor, Assistant to the ChiefDeputy Grand Chancellor and member and later chair of the Finance Committee.
The Order of Knights of Pythias is an international, non-sectarian fraternalorder, established in 1864 in Washington, DC, by Justus H. Rathbone and was thefirst fraternal order to be chartered by an Act of Congress. The distinguishingprinciples of this fraternal organization are "FRIENDSHIP, CHARITY andBENEVOLENCE". Domains of the Order exist in most states and provinces, andsubordinate lodges are located in many cities and towns across the United States,Canada, and recently, Europe.
The New York Grand Lodge supports charities, including the PythianHumanitarian Fund, Diabetes Research Association, Pythian Camp, Dr. MorrisSmoller Social Service Fund (which supports health and elder care institutions) andthe Special Olympics.
