Music Theatre of Wenatchee’s winter show Rumors, is a hilarious farce created by the genius of Neil Simon (Odd Couple, Barefoot in the Park) and directed by John Mausser. Mausser also directed our recent hit production of Boeing Boeing. The show’s producer is Bonnie VanHoven, who you’ve probably seen in many shows over the years with MTW. The plot unfolds at a Sneden’s Landing townhouse, where four couples are gathering for the tenth wedding anniversary party of the Deputy Mayor of New York and his wife. The plot thickens when the host is discovered bleeding in the bedroom, apparently having shot himself (don’t worry, it’s only a flesh wound), and his wife is nowhere to be found. His lawyer, Ken, and his wife, Chris, must get ‘the story’ straight before the other guests arrive. As the confusions and mis- communications mount, the evening spins off into classic farcical hilarity. According to Mausser, the cast is beyond terrific. Of course, most directors say that about their cast, but Mausser really means it. Four of the six actors from Boeing Boeing are back for more fun, joined by a mix of other MTW veterans and a few others new to our stage. MTW MEMBERSHIPAs 2016 draws to a close, it’s once again time renew your annual membership with Music Theatre of Wenatchee. Without the generous financial support of members like you, MTW would not be able to continue fulfilling our mission to produce quality theatrical productions by and for the community. We appreciate each and every one of our members, and sincerely hope you will continue to be a part of MTW in 2017 and for many years to come. For your convenience, you will receive a reminder letter in the next few weeks. If you would like to renew your membership at that time, simply mail a check or your credit card information back to us in the included self-addressed envelope. You are also welcome to renew your membership at any MTW performance or the annual meeting in January. As always, MTW members enjoy early notice of ticket sales, a quarterly Newsletter, discount tickets to Thursday performances, and invitations to our semi-annual gatherings at the Playhouse for food, fellowship, and fun! If you have any questions about your membership, please contact Tiffany Mausser at [email protected]. Thank you again for your ongoing support!

WE ARE ALWAYS LOOKING FOR VOLUNTEERS Without an army of volunteers, our little theater would not be able to keep it’s doors open. From our board members, to our directors, actors, technicians, and everyone else in between, it truly takes hours and hours and countless volunteers to keep us up and running. We are always looking for volunteers with skills of every kind. Are you gifted with technology? Have you ever considered possibly helping with sound or lighting? Or maybe construction and design is your strength- we are constantly looking for help with set building! Maybe you love fashion and costuming- we are always looking to add to our costume team. No matter what your skills are, we would love to have you join our theater family. We are always looking for volunteers. If you are interested, email us at [email protected]

UPCOMING AUDITIONS

Choreographer, Melissa Miller, will be auditioning all roles for movement, Jazz and Tap while Music Director, Amy Edwards, will be auditioning singers.

Director Cynthia Brown is looking for singers who can move. Keep in mind that the “Chorus,” with lots of juicy lines, named characters, and singing, has many specific roles to offer: villagers, scientists, students, porters, passengers, even a barbershop quartet!

Be aware that Director Cynthia warns that once the musical is cast she will set the schedule around possible conflicts for actors, after which, scheduled rehearsals should not be missed. There may be as many as 4 or even 5 nights of rehearsal each week (depending on the role), especially as the opening approaches. A stage musical requires a lot of rehearsal!

The show runs for 10 performances, May 3- 13.

Roles available have an apparent age of 18 to 65. There are no roles for children under 13.

If you would like to learn a bit more about the story, Director Cynthia recommends that you search YouTube where a number of videos are available.

ANNOUNCING OUR NEWESTBOARD MEMBER

As the seasons are changing yet again, so is our board. As we mentioned in our previous newsletter, after many years of service, customer, director, and board member Daina Toevs stepped down.

Daina’s shoes will be hard to fill, but the board found someone up to the challenge. We are happy to announce that Jason Rolfs will be fulfilling the remainder of Daina’s two year term.

Jason has been involved with MTW for over a decade now. He got his feet wet in Disney’s Beauty and the Beast, and has been in numerous productions over the years including Salem, Gypsy, Happy Days, Monty Python’s Spamalot, and Peter and the Starcatcher , to name a few.

He has also been involved backstage in many productions, and most recently was the assistant director for Peter and the Starcatcher.

Welcome aboard Jason! We are so excited to have you.

- By Brady Dundas ANNUAL MEMBERS MEETING It’s that time of year again. We will be holding our annual membership meeting on Sunday, January 22nd at 4:00 P.M. As always, we will have food and entertainment, and the re-election of our new board members. Back by popular demand, we will be having another baked potato feed. Bring your family and come join us for time with friends, great food, and a sneak peek of MTW’s upcoming shows including scenes from Rumors and Young Frankenstein! We can’t wait to see you there, and share what’s coming up for Music Theatre of Wenatchee.
