Who we areVanderNest Furniture was established in 1978 by Lampies van der Nest, a woodwork teacher from Lydenburg in Mpumalanga, South Africa. Lampies did woodwork from home in his spare time. In July of that year he took what was then considered a daring – and even unwise – decision to start his own furniture business, which he called Nesthout Furniture in August of 1978. From its humble beginnings with Lampies and his two employees, the company grew from strength to strength. In 2005 it was renamed as VanderNest Furniture (Pty) Ltd. Today it is a thriving business with its own factory under the leadership of Lampies’s son, Leon van der Nest. A true family business.
