SIPPO, the Swiss Import Promotion Programme, is a mandate of
the State Secretariat for Economic Affairs, SECO, within the
framework of its economic development cooperation. It is car-
ried out by Osec, the official Swiss foreign trade promotion
agency. The programme helps SMEs in developing and transition
countries to gain access to the Swiss and European markets by
providing information, training courses and other matchmaking
services. SIPPO also assists importers from Switzerland and the
European Union with finding suitable partners and high-quality
products from selected developing and transition countries.
The programme has five main goals:• To inform the Swiss and European import economy about new
market sources
• To strengthen trade institutions and business sector associa-
tions in the trade promotion process
• To increase the competitiveness of SMEs in selected partner
countries
• To develop the manufacturing and exporting skills of SMEs in
selected partner countries
• To establish qualified trade contacts between SMEs from
emerging markets and markets in transition and the Swiss and
European import economy

and exporter of indoor wooden furniture. Tropical solid wood as
the main material is used in combination with various kinds of
veneer.
The company’s strength lies in design, which goes hand in hand
with the creation of different kinds of finishings. While the compa-
ny grows, environmental issues have to be taken into considera-
tion. Therefore Aqsa Living only uses legal plantation wood from
sustainable forests. The firm is on its way to acquire FSC certifi-
cation. The management team members are experts in every step

Pramaputra Maju Abadi started its production of indoor furniture
in 2005, just at the time when the market became interested in
teak indoor furniture in unfinished and natural colours with simple
contemporary lines. Pramaputra’s production plant is located in
Jepara, Central Java. The facilities contain a 3000 sqm warehouse
and a 1500 sqm in-house production area for 120 employees.
When production started in 2005, the company’s products were
only conceived as complements to the outdoor furniture pro-
duced by its sister company Nature Habitat, which has been ex-
porting outdoor furniture since 1998. During the first three years,
Pramaputra exported 4 – 5 containers per year of indoor furniture
made of teak wood to European countries such as Belgium,
France, Holland and Italy.
In 2008 the firm started to further develop its indoor collection by
producing in-house.

Kayu Manis is an indoor furniture manufacturer located in
Yogyakarta, Central Java, Indonesia. Established in 2001, the
company produces quality teak furniture for bathrooms, dining
rooms, living rooms and bedrooms. Its main export target region
is France, Belgium and the Netherlands. Kayu Manis also sells a
few of its products to Australia, Hong Kong and Taiwan.
Kayu Manis produces its own furniture in its 2.000 sqm work-
shop with about 90 employees. The firm’s production relies
more on hand-made processes rather than machine-intensive
techniques. The production includes the whole process from
start to finish, from cutting the wood into components, assem-
bling them into furniture, applying the finished colour and pack-
aging the finished pieces into carton boxes. The company is able
to ship 5 20-feet containers of teak furniture every month.
