Agenda
• To learn about the mineral• the chemical formula•The common use of the
mineral . The special part of the mineral What the name of the mineral ?• IT IS POTAISSUM FELDSPAR(钾长石)
•K2O·Al2O3·6SiO2
The introduction
• Feldspars are a group of closely related minerals that together are the most abundant mineral in the Earth's crust.
How to identify the mineral • Feldspars are hard minerals, all of them with a
hardness of 6 on the Mohs scale. Feldspars usually are white or nearly white, though they may be clear or light shades of orange or buff. They usually have a glassy luster. Feldspar is what's called a rock-forming mineral, very common and usually making up a large part of the rock. In sum, any glassy mineral that's slightly softer than quartz is very likely to be a feldspar.
•
• They can use in making glass in the industry.
• And they can make common clay and those clay are used in making bottles.
• And they can make Potassic Fertilizer.
Potassium Fertilizer.
• Potassium fertilizer is a sort of fertilizer containing K2CO3, and it is very important in farming , and plants , specifically crops , and depending on these to grow ,and the fertilizer can be containing many different chemicals ,and such as KOH , KClO3 .
How can it become glass ?
• In many factories , workers begins to get potassium feldspar to make glass ,and how it is become glass ? They add AlO3 at about 18 per cent , and the SiO2 is about 70 per cent . And then they mix them together ,and make glass finally , according to the required to the factories .
How does it become fine clay ?
• They use the Al2O3 for about 13 percent and they also mixed them together
the characteristics of the mineral
• Colour- pink to white• Hardness- 6th on the Moh’s list • Streak- white/colorless• Magnetism- no• Luster- vitreous to pearly, and glassly• HCl bubbles – no• Cleavage- good, in 2 directions , and 90
degrees interaction .
Where can we find this mineral ?
• It is the most common one on earth , so it can be found anywhere on earth.
