Running a central TM is not for the privileged few ActivaTM has been designed to supersede the shortcomings of desktop-based translation memory systems and the expensive model of TM servers. It is indeed a server translation memory, but with no strings attached. As reported by Jost Zetsche in his Tool Box Journal (Internationalwriters.com), ActivaTM brings the first kind of real innovation to the CAT tool – Translation Memory environment in decades. In short, ActivaTM separates the need of every Computer Assisted Tool (CAT) to connect to its own Translation Memory.  Based on Elastic Search, ActivaTM works as a server-based, fast and scalable Translation Memory Manager with lightning-fast search and fuzzy-match capabilities beyond traditional TM systems. You can install ActivaTM in the cloud, on your own server, and even as SaaS, populate it with all the translation memories you need and start leveraging from day one… even subsegment matches. Yes, you can mix TMs from any program and retrieve translation from all of them simultaneously. “ActivaTM is the most advanced multi-channel, multi-format and multi-language translation memory system. There are no restrictions on the language pairs you can create. In fact, you can triangulate between language pairs in order to create new TMs.”

Through intelligent, deep learning tag handling systems, interoperability issues and different ways of handling tags are resolved. You can run ActivaTM with multiple translation platforms at once. Translators can work in a variety of translation programs and all access the same TM remotely and simultaneously. Better still, ActivaTM will compare 100% matches and create triangular TMs (Matrix function). If you have translated a text from English into Chinese and from English to Japanese, presto! You also have a Chinese-Japanese translation memory. And it can intelligently perform substitutions of 1 or 2 words using the TM as reference!

ActivaTM was first known as “ElasticTM”. It provides unknown levels of flexibility and ownership over linguistic assets at a fraction of the cost.
