What are they and what do they do

SIMS Teacher Comments are a selection of thousands of curriculum-based and general comments designed to inspire high quality report writing. They reflect fully the changes in curriculum for 2014

Written by teachers and modelled on best practice our comments are proven to improve quality and save valuable time without compromising on the individuality of each report.

Comment banks are divided into ‘Areas’

Divided into areas which mirror curriculum objectives for each Key Stage

An area is provided for schools that wish to export comment selections to Word to create graphical images (see later slides)

Areas divide into ‘Sections’

General comments, including personal and social development, have an important place when reporting to parents

SIMS Teacher Comments contain up to 200 comments in sections in this key area

There is a section for schools that wish to export comment selections to Word to create graphical images (see later slides)

This is a place where many schools add their own comments to reflect the ethos and specific learning objectives of the school

Comments are contained in the sections

Each section contains the comments. There is no limit to the number of comments in the software but grids and OMR entries do have limits

These contain the markers to substitute Name, He/She, his/her and so on

It is here that editing or adding of comments can be done

Report writing in SIMS – 1

With SIMS on your PC or tablet, writing reports to parents becomes a much easier task

You can select comments and watch the report build into a fluent and informative document

Report writing in SIMS – 2 and 3

Many teachers prefer to enter a comment reference on a grid

This method is used if schools choose to let teachers complete OMR sheets

Grid entry directly into SIMS sees the reports build on screen

Editing selected comments

Whether done as the report is being written or after all reports are completed, any and every comment may be edited with teachers’ own words

Part or full sentences may be added or parts of the original comments deleted
