Simplify IT management
2 Microsoft Operations Management Suite
IT Management todayThe rapid pace of innovation in IT today presents challenges for traditional management. Hybrid infrastructure, heterogeneous environments, and agile development all require a new way of thinking about management solutions. To meet the needs of a competitive and accelerating business, you need a single view across the hybrid cloud, reducing the need for multiple tools and interfaces.

Log analyticsOMS with inbuilt log analytics provides proactive operational data analysis through the delivery of Solution Packs. Solution Packs can be selected from an integrated gallery and offer pre-built rules and algorithms that perform initial analysis for critical scenarios like capacity planning, configuration intelligence and change tracking.
Quickly realise operational value• Search and investigate – helps you to search for key words, values and
fields in seconds, enabling to uncover valuable and actionable insights throughout your infrastructure.
• Plan capacity - get deep visibility into your data center capacity, investigate “what-if” scenarios, identify stale and over allocated virtual machines, and plan your future compute and storage needs.
• Update status - identify missing system updates across all of your servers whether they’re running in your data center or in a public cloud.
• Track changes - when you troubleshoot an operational incident, the first thing you want to know is what has changed on your servers. Log analytics helps to easily identify operational issues caused by software changes that occur in your environment.
• Audit security logs - helps Security Analyst and System Admins to mine large distributed sets of security data in order to detect suspicious activities and potential security breaches.
Every device, every operating system and
every user action generates machine data
with latent value that can be used to inform IT
strategic planning and operational insight

Backup & recovery Backup and recovery solutions are powered by Azure Site Recovery (ASR) and Azure Backup. Site Recovery’s replication capabilities help protect critical applications and extend your datacenter to Azure, enabling recovery, dev/testing, reporting/analytics, migrating applications to Azure, and cloud bursting. Azure Backup is a scalable solution that protects your application data and retains it for up to 99 years with zero capital investment and minimal operating costs.
Automate and simplify protection and disaster recovery in the cloudYour environment can be protected by automating the replication of the virtual machines based on policies that you set and control. Site Recovery can protect Hyper-V, VMware and physical servers and you can use Azure or your secondary datacenter as your recovery site. Site Recovery coordinates and manages the ongoing replication of data by integrating with existing technologies including System Center and SQL Server AlwaysOn.
Orchestrate disaster recoveryASR helps automate the orderly recovery of services in the event of a site outage at the primary datacenter. Applications can be brought up in an orchestrated fashion to help restore service quickly, even for complex multi-tier workloads. Recovery plans are simple to create through the Azure management portal, where they are stored.
Monitor health continuouslySite Recovery monitors the state of your protected instances continuously and remotely from Azure. When replicating between two sites you control, your virtual machines’ data and replication remains on your networks. All communication with Azure is encrypted. When replicating to Azure as the secondary site, your data is encrypted and you can also select encryption for data at-rest.
50%“After having reduced the Recovery Time Objective from 48 hours to 5 minutes, we don’t need to build high-availability architecture at global branch sites; instead we can get the same level of availability and maximise service quality by using Hyper-V Replica and Azure Site Recovery at 50 percent of the cost.”
Lee Bingham, Head of IT, Paul Smith
Replicate and recover site to site or site to AzureApplications can be migrated to Azure with just a few clicks, or burst to Azure temporarily when you encounter a surge in demand. Run reports and analytics on copies of production workloads in Azure without impacting users. DevTest new versions of applications with copies of live data, and then seamlessly put the new version into production.

ROI: Business continuity and disaster recovery on premises vs. Azure Azure Site Recovery can help you protect important applications by coordinating the replication and recovery of private clouds across sites, whether you’re protecting dozens or hundreds of virtual machines.
Save your applications to your own second site, a hoster’s site, or even use Azure as your disaster recovery site (preview) and avoid the expense and complexity of building and managing your own secondary location.
Cost comparison: traditional disaster recovery site vs. Azure Site Recovery
Scenario: A fictional customer that has 3 Hyper-V hosts configured in traditional cluster with a SAM and hosts 30 virtual machines
This fictional customer can get a traditional hosted disaster recovery site for around $4,662 per month, but the customer needs to invest $50K of capital investment up front to build the disaster recovery site. If the customer went with Azure as their disaster recovery site, then the solution would cost around $1,802 per month. That is not only 61 percent cheaper per month, but there is no need for any capital investment.
Aston Martin expects to quickly restore IT applications and services following both
planned and unplanned downtime. Even if one site goes down, Aston Martin IT staff will always have access to Azure Site Recovery, running on the reliable, scalable Microsoft Azure platform,
to orchestrate recovery.
United Airlines uses Windows Server 2012 R2 Hyper-V Replica and Microsoft Azure Site Recovery to expedite the migration and
consolidation of virtual machines and mission critical services to its new data center in Chicago
and provide high availability services when hardware fails.

Security and compliance
Enhance protection of workloads, servers and users. Identify missing system updates and malware status. Collect security related events and perform forensic, audit and breach analysis. Recognise threats earlier and improve compliance. Enable cloud-based patch management for all your environments.
Keeping your servers, data and users secure is more than a full time job. Patching, malware, intrusion detection–all require diligent services to ensure your enterprise is protected. In this age where we hear about security breaches almost daily, how do you get ahead of this, and don’t become one of the statistics? Gain visibility into your enterprise’s system update and malware status through a single solution, regardless of location, operating system, hypervisors or cloud provider.
Get ahead of security threats and compliance risks
• Run faster investigation and resolution of security and compliance risks by searching logs data gathered from any Windows Server and Linux source
• Perform system updates, identify missing system updates and do patch management across all of your servers regardless of location, operating system, hypervisors or cloud provider
• Utilise a single solution for malware protection, identification, and remediation of vulnerabilities, while giving visibility into non-compliant systems
• Compare with baseline recommendations, collect security-related events and perform forensic, audit and breach related analysis
• Detect security breaches by enabling an efficient, scalable and secure way to collect and store security records. The robust search capabilities provides the ability to easily answer the question of who did what, when and on which devices.
• Search log data gathered from any Windows Server and Linux source, and use it for faster investigation and resolution of security and compliance risks
