Dear Friends,
Can it be September already??? I hate to see the summer coming to an end,
yet, fall is such a pleasant time of the year and a great time to participate in the
many activities and events at the Center. First off, free classes are being offered to
our members this month. There isn’t a better time to try something new to improve
your health or expand your creativity! Free classes include Stretch & Tone, Yoga,
Ceramics, Watercolor Painting, Bridge Lessons, Tap & Jazz Dance, Tai Chi, Zumba
and Meditation. Arthritis Exercise, Resistance Band Training, and Line Dance

After a summer break, S.T.O..P. (Sensibly Taking Off Pounds) Book Group,
Antiques To Go, Widows, Widowers & Singles Social Hour, and Points of View

these groups and much, much more that is going on this month on the following
pages.
When you do come to the Center, please make it a point to say hello to our
new Program Coordinator, Shannon Winney. Shannon’s first day here was August
22nd. If you have any ideas for programming or activities….heard of some good
entertainment….or can give a good movie recommendation, let Shannon know. It’s
always nice to get ideas from our members!
Have a great month!

AARP FOUNDATION TAX-AIDE PROGRAM SEEKS
VOLUNTEERS
FOR UPCOMING TAX SEASON
The AARP Foundation Tax Aide Program, the nation’s largest free, volunteer-run tax preparation and assistance service, is seeking volunteers for its Clarence program which helps taxpayers who need assistance preparing and filing their 2016 tax returns. The Clarence Tax Aide program operates out of the Clarence Senior Center and the Clarence Public Library and last year assisted over 1600 taxpayers. Volunteers do not need to be an AARP member or a retiree to participate. All ages are welcome to serve as tax preparers or to have their Federal and New York state taxes done free of charge. AARP Foundation Tax-Aide volunteers receive free tax training and are reimbursed on a limited basis for qualified program-related expenses. They help taxpayers at sites around Western New York, learning new skills while giving back to their communities. Last year, more than one-hundred Tax-Aide volunteers helped thousands of filers in Western New York. They join the more than 35,000 volunteers across the country, helping millions of taxpayers each year. For more information (and to register as a potential Tax Aide) call Sandy at 716-759-6345 or Tom at 716-689-6118 by October 21. Training begins in November.
