Финальный аккорд взяла лишь половина экипа-жей, стартовавших в Москве. Остальные участники перешли в разряд зрителей.

Для самых стойких гонщиков приготовили 186-километровый спецучасток. Он существен-но отличался от предыдущих. Извилистый отрезок маршрута группа реконессанса отыскала на грани-це Ставропольского и Краснодарского краев. Часть спецучастка проложили среди лесопосадок и полей,

где к моменту гонки кукуруза и подсолнухи вымаха-ли с человеческий рост. Срезать здесь по правилам категорически запрещалось, да никто и не рискнул бы. Для острых ощущений гонщикам предложили участок «ор-пист», а чтобы глаз отдохнул – потряса-ющего вида холмы. В черновике маршрута значился еще брод на реке Уруп, но из-за проливных дождей перейти его было не под силу даже грузовикам, так что от этой идеи пришлось отказаться.

route was laid in forest plantations and fields. By the time the race took place there a corn and sunflowers were the same size as a human height. According to the rally regulations it was strictly forbidden to cut the route there. And surely that nobody would risk doing it. To make the race even more challenging the organiz-ers offered to the racers a bit of “hors-piste”. To give them some rest and to admire beautiful sceneries the organizers offered the splendid hills for them. There was one more challenge in the draft copy of the route book – the ford of the Urup River. But due to hard rains even the trucks couldn’t cross it. So the organizers had to forget about this idea.

The evening before the organizers made some changes in the rally route. The sportsmen were in-formed in advance about it. So, the co-drivers didn’t have a lot of time to think over the new route consid-ering all the changes.

“It was rough! Because of a high grass it was diffi-cult to distinguish bumps and holes”, - said one of the organizers of the rally. He decided to pass the stage before the racing caravan in order to make sure that everything is ok.

There were many unpredictable obstacles that the racers met during the penultimate stage of the rally. Difficult turns, where the participants could fall down in a rut, as the road was slippery there; puddles and mud after yesterday’s rain – these are only some of them. And of course everybody wanted to pass this stage as quickly as possible. But it was not allowed to be in a hurry, as those who were, risked to end up the race long before the finish line. The organiz-ers must have the second sight saying that it was very dangerous to cut the angles by driving on straw. By us-ing this method the competitors risked to fall sideways or fly off the route. Sure enough that this situation happened with one of the drivers. It was Alexander Mironenko who couldn’t cope with his slipping car on one of those turns. His BMW while moving on a straw rushed to a ravine. The driver and co-driver were on the verge of falling down and only a miracle helped them. They were lucky that Firdaus Kabirov was pass-ing the place of the possible accident. The KAMAZ-Master driver helped his colleagues to get out of the

were able to reach the last special stage. All the rest competitors moved into the realm of spectators.

For the most resistant racers the organizers pre-pared another 186 kilometers-long special stage. This special stage significantly differed from all the previous ones. The reconnaissance group of the rally has found a really twisted section of the track on the border of Stavropol and Krasnodar regions. Another part of the

Накануне вечером маршрут немного подкоррек-тировали, о чем спортсменам сообщили заранее. Так что у штурманов оставалось совсем немного времени продумать путь с учетом изменений.

«Жестко! Из-за высокой травы сложно разгля-деть кочки и ямы», – прокомментировал один из организаторов ралли, который еще до начала стар-та первым проехал по спецучастку, чтобы еще раз убедиться, что все в порядке.

Сложные повороты, где участники рисковали завалиться в колею, солома у края поля, по кото-рой спортсмены могли соскользнуть, как по мылу, лужи и грязь после прошедшего накануне дождя – вот лишь часть непредвиденных препятствий, ко-торые подстерегали гонщиков на предпоследнем спецучастке. Понятное дело, что его хотелось про-скочить как можно быстрее, но спешить было нельзя – иначе участники рисковали вообще не дойти до финиша. Организаторы как в воду гляде-ли, когда говорили, что, если срезать угол по соло-ме, можно завалиться набок или слететь с трассы. Так и случилось. На одном из таких поворотов со скользящей машиной не совладал Александр Ми-роненко. Его БМВ потащило по соломе прямо в ов-раг. Пилот и штурман буквально висели на воло-ске, экипаж спасло только чудо. Хорошо, что мимо в это время проезжал Фирдаус Кабиров, который

помог коллегам выбраться. «Едем. Овраг вдоль поля, и скользко в траве. В левом повороте джип на краю обрыва висит. Половина «БМВ» уже на том свете практически. Другие машины мимо проско-чили. Мы остановились и вытащили их прямо из пропасти», – рассказывали про спасение ведущего российского спортсмена члены экипажа Кабирова. Надежды Александра Мироненко войти в тройку лидеров все же рухнули в эту самую пропасть. Да и для Кабирова этап сложился далеко не так, как он ожидал.

А что же остальные лидеры? Кшишстоф Холов-чиц никуда не торопился. Зачем, ведь у него в за-пасе почти два часа. Комментаторы на этот счет даже пошутили, что спортсмену даже можно было остановиться пообедать где-нибудь на середине пути. А тут еще перед его машиной на дорогу вы-бежал заяц. И, чтобы не задавить ушастого, поляк еще немного сбросил скорость. В итоге – третье место, но на конечный результат это уже не влияет.

За легендой автоспорта Стефаном Петранселем было бы сложно угнаться, если бы его время от времени не подводила машина. Но французу было очень важно протестировать на «Шелковом пути» свой Mini. Хотя, несомненно, ему хотелось бы по-держать в руках еще и главный трофей ралли. Но не на этот раз….

Зато звездный час на предпоследнем этапе про-бил для Владимира Васильева из команды Ge-Force. Его товарищи сошли на ранних этапах, он же про-держался до конца. И даже смог перехватить ли-дерство на спецучастке. Довольно удачно сложил-ся этап для Айрата Мардеева. Это его гонка. Он, конечно, не первый в общем зачете, но молодой гонщик еще только учится. Правда, уже показывает конкурентам зубки. Это второй этап, который Ай-рат выиграл на «Шелковом пути». На финиш моло-дой пилот приехал в хорошем настроении.

А тут еще такая встреча! На финише в Красно-гвардейском гонщиков встречали домашними пи-рожками. В селе долго думали, чем бы порадовать спортсменов, и решили от души накормить гостей. Чтобы успеть к финишу, женщины деревни всю ночь пекли. К утру полторы тысячи пирожков было го-тово. Выпечка разлетелась в один миг. Ими угоща-ли всех, кто пришел на этот праздник автоспорта. Кроме того, хозяйки наготовили домашних варени-ков, достали из погребов соленых огурчиков, ма-ринованных грибочков и сало. Праздник получился на славу. Да и народу собралось немало. Для не-большого села ралли «Шелковый путь» – событие планетарного масштаба. Зрители с окрестных ста-ниц съезжались сюда с семи часов утра, хотя первая спортивная машина стартовала только в восемь.

All other cars have passed by... We stopped and helped them to get out of the steep”, - that is what the Firdaus Kabirov’s crew members told us about the rescue of one of the leading Rus-sian sportsman. But unfortunately all expectations of Alexander Mironenko to be on the podium felt down right into this steep. Kabirov also had some unexpected problems during that stage.

And what about all other leaders? Krzysztof Holow-czyc was not at all in a hurry. And he had no reasons to do it, as he was 2 hours faster than his rivals. Some people even made jokes on this situation: actually the sportsman could stop and have a lunch without any problems somewhere in the middle of the stage. Even when a hare ran out on his way, the Polish driver simply slowed down his car to avoid running over the animal. As the consequence, he was the third. But this fact couldn’t influence on the general classification.

It could have been difficult to chase after the leg-end of the motorsport Stephane Peterhansel, especially if he hadn’t got problems with his car. But anyway he was very fast as it was very important for the French-man to test his Mini during the Silk Way Rally. And of course without any doubts he also wanted to gain the main prize. But unfortunately not this time…

Therefore it was a particularly lucky day for Vladimir Vasiliev, the driver from the G-Force team. All his team-

mates retired the race during the previous stages, but he managed to stay in the race till the end. He even managed to gain a leading position on the stage.

For Ayrat Mardeev it was also quite a lucky stage. It was his race. Of course he was not the first one in the general classification, but he is a young racer who only learns how to race. At the same time he can show teeth to his rivals. It was the second stage, which Ayrat won during this Silk Way. That is why the young driver came to the finish in a very good mood.

There was a very warm welcome organized for the competitors! At the finish in Krasnogvardeyskiy village the participants were offered homemade pies. Inhabit-ants of the village were thinking a lot how to make the day of their guests. And they have decided to feed them to the full. To be on time to the finish local wom-en were cooking all night long. And by the next morn-ing 1500 cakes were ready. The racers really liked the baking and ate everything very quickly. Everyone who came to the motorsport festival had a chance to try it. Apart from the pies the local women cooked some other dishes of Russian cuisine, such as homemade curd and fruit dumplings, pickled cucumbers, vinegar pickled mushrooms and bacon. It was a fantastic fes-tival. And there were a lot of people who came to the event. For this kind of village the Silk Way Rally is an event of the planetary scale. Since 7 o’clock in the morning the spectators from surroundings started to arrive to Krasnogvardeyskiy, although the first racing car started that day only at 8 a.m.

Из-за бурного строительства олимпийских объек-тов трасса оказалась настолько загруженной, что го-ночные машины ехали порой со скоростью не более 40 километров в час. А это, согласитесь, для спортсме-нов, привыкших к большим скоростям, настоящая про-верка на выдержку.

Еще в Астрахани организаторы предупредили гон-щиков, что намерены штрафовать спортсменов за пре-вышение скорости вне спецучастков, однако далеко не все прислушались.

Накануне часовым штрафом за нарушение скорост-ного режима на лиазоне был наказан экипаж Фирдауса Кабирова, который на протяжении всей гонки шел впе-реди всех. Лидерство в грузовом зачете перешло к чеху Алесу Лопрайсу. А отыграть досадный разрыв в семнад-цать минут, который теперь отделял Фирдауса Кабирова от соперника, экипаж уже не смог из-за отмены этапа (скоростной спецучасток вдоль реки Шахэ был отменен: из-за обильных дождей вода поднялась так высоко, что сделала его неприступным). Словами не передать, как расстроились камазовцы. Но правила есть правила!

Зато Алес не мог поверить в свою победу: «Наконец-то мы оказались на финише, это было нашей первой целью. Я и правда не ожидал, что окажусь на первом месте, но это случилось».

Красная Поляна встретила участников ралли-рейда прекрасной погодой. А сколько тепла было со стороны хозяев и зрителей! Публика громкими аплодисмен-тами встречала всех, кто поднимался на подиум, ко-торый установили прямо у въезда в шикарный отель «Гранд Отель Поляна», где во время Игр разместится горная Олимпийская деревня.

Пройти «Шелковый путь» от Москвы до Сочи удалось лишь половине стартовавших экипажей – всего 75. Те, кто выбыл раньше времени, проиграв-шими себя не считают. Само участие в гонке, где наряду с именитыми спортсменами имеют возмож-ность учиться новички, уже победа. В зачете ав-томобилей лидеры определились с первых минут. Между собой весь «Шелковый путь» соперничали товарищи по команде X-RAID Стефан Петрансель (Mini) и Кшишстоф Холовчиц (BMW), последний и стал победителем гонки в зачете автомобилей. У Петранселя – серебро.

«Чтобы победить, нужны не только быстрая езда и хороший автомобиль, но еще и правильная органи-зация, стратегия, все должно быть вовремя. Когда не останавливаешься, как Петрансель… Стефан, конечно, был быстрее, чем я, на этом ралли, но зато у меня не было никаких проблем с машиной», – сказал в своем финальном интервью Холовчиц. То и дело к Холовчицу и Петранселю близко подбирались российские спор-тсмены. Но удача улыбнулась лишь одному из них – Александру Желудову, выступающему на Nissan Frontier. Перехватить лидерство пытался Александр Мироненко, но на последнем, шестом этапе он едва не опрокинулся в овраг, пока его вытаскивал проезжавший мимо Фир-даус Кабиров, время было упущено.

Досадная неудача на гонке постигла чемпиона про-шлого года в грузовом зачете, пилота команды «КА-МАЗ-мастер» Эдуарда Николаева – из-за технических проблем прошлогодний победитель «Шелкового пути» выбыл из борьбы. А вот за Андрея Каргинова и Ай-рата Мардеева можно только порадоваться! Каргинов завершил гонку с третьим результатом. Это большое достижение, учитывая, что соперниками были извест-ные гонщики из команд Tatra, Man, Ginaf и DE ROOY.

Своеобразным прорывом стало выступление Айра-та Мардеева – из шести этапов он выиграл два далеко не самых простых. И ничего, что в общем зачете он всего лишь пятый. Главные его победы еще впереди.

В торжествах приняла участие делегация от гене-рального партнера гонки – компании «Транснефть» в составе вице-президента Бориса Короля и начальни-ка протокольно-организационного управления Жанны Вебер. Борис Король тепло приветствовал собравших-ся и вручил триумфаторам гонки призы..

Под занавес мероприятия всех ожидал сюрприз, кото-рый приготовили участникам «Шелкового пути» органи-заторы – грандиозный салют. Под восторженные крики в небе распускались тысячи цветов, и падали на землю разноцветные звезды, освещая на своем пути горы, скры-вающие Красную Поляну от суеты курортного города.

В следующем году организаторы ралли-рейда «Шел-ковый путь» пообещали вернуться туда, где гонщикам пришлось особенно сложно. Еще не отгремели фанфа-ры третьего выпуска гонки, как дирекция уже открыла карты, чтобы набросать черновик следующего ралли…

Because of the large-scale construction of the Olympic fa-cilities the road to Krasnaya Polyana was very busy. In some places the racing cars were driving at a speed not more than 40 kph. And you must admit that it was a real self-control test for the sportsmen who got used to drive at very high speeds.

As far back in Astrakhan the organizers have warned the racers that they were going to penalize those competitors who would exceed the speed limits on public roads. But un-fortunately not everybody was considered to those warnings.

The day before the crew of Firdaus Kabirov who was the leader during the race got one hour of penalization because of speeding on the road section. Due to this penalization Firdaus lost his leading position in the race and as a result his first place went to the Czech driver Ales Loprais. Kabirov didn’t have a chance to win back those seventeen minutes that separated him from the first place, as the last special stage of the race was cancelled. (It was the stage across the Shakhe River, which was cancelled because of the heavy rains. The level of water was so high that it was impossible to cross it). It is very difficult to find the words how the KAMAZ team was disappointed because of this fact. But rules are rules!

Ales Loprais in his turn couldn’t believe in his victory: “Finally we reached the finish. It was our main goal. I didn’t expect that I was going to be on the first place. But it’s happened”.

Krasnaya Polyana met the rally-raid participants with a wonderful weather. The rally guests and spectators warmly welcomed the crews. Everybody who stepped on the podium was met with loud applause of the audience. The rally podium was set right at the entrance of the luxury hotel “Grand Hotel Polyana”, that will host the mountain Olympic Village during the 2014 Olympic Games

Only the half of the participants, 75 crews in total, man-aged to cover the whole distance of the Silk Way from Moscow to Sochi. Those who retired the race earlier do not consider themselves to be the losers. The participation in such an event is a victory itself. It is the event where the newcomers have a possibility to train alongside with the famous competitors.

The leaders of the car category were determined from the fist minutes of the race. Stephane Peterhansel (Mini) and Krzysztof Holowczyc (BMW), the two teammates from the X-Raid, were competing with each other all the way. The last one became the winner of the race. Peterhansel took the second place.

“To win the race you need to know how to drive fast and to have a good car. But apart from this you also need to or-ganize everything in a good way, to have the right strategy, everything should be on time. You shouldn’t stop, like Peter-hansel… Of course Stephane was faster than me during this rally, but at the same time I didn’t have any problems with the car” – Holowczyc said in his final interview.

The Russian sportsmen were approaching Peterhansel and Holowczyc quite often. But the luck favored only one of them – it was Aleksandr Zheludov, performing on his Nissan Frontier. Alexander Mironenko also tried to take the lead, but on the last sixth stage he was on the edge of falling down to the ravine. While Firdaus Kabirov, who was passing by tried to rescue the crew they lost too much time.

Eduard Nikolaev, the KAMAZ-master’s driver and the last year champion of the race in the trucks category met with failure this time. Due to the technical problems the last year winner of the Silk Way Rally abandoned the race. But we can be happy for Andrey Karginov and Ayrat Mardeev! Karginov finished the race with the third best result. It’s a big achieve-ment, taking into consideration the fact that his rivals were the famous racers from Tatra, Man, Ginaf and De Rooy teams.

The performance of Ayrat Mardeev was a kind of an achievement as well – he managed to win two rather diffi-cult special stages out six. And no matter that in general clas-sification he showed only the fifth result. His most important victories are waiting for him in the future.

The delegation from the Transneft company, the title sponsor of the rally, took part in the prize giving ceremony. This delegation consisted of the vice-president of the company Boris Korol and the chief of the protocol and organization department Zhanna Veber.

Boris Korol welcomed all guests and presented prizes to the race winners…

There was another surprise for the guests of the Silk Way prepared by the organizers at the end of the ceremony. It was the superb fireworks. Thousands of small lights having a shape of flowers were shining in the sky. Then the mul-ticoloured small stars were falling down on earth illuminating the mountains, which hide Krasnaya Polyana from the outer world. Everybody was excited.

The organizers of the Silk Way Rally promised to come back next year to the places that were particularly difficult for the racers. The race was not finished yet, but the or-ganizers have already started to think on the draft route of the next race…
