Silgen Ag is a unique Silver Spray made from ultra pure water containing 0.003% ionic silver nanoparticles. It has been shown to start working in as little as 5 minutes and is effective within 30 minutes. It has been demonstrated to have a 4 log reduction of the bacterial load within 4 hours, sufficient to kill most bacteria and fungi.

Silver can be dispensed into a wound, which allows the clinician to use an effective level of silver with exceptional freedom and flexibility.

Independent laboratory testing shows that Silgen Ag is proven to be active against all 7 organisms tested, all of which are commonly found in wounds, showing greater than a 4 log reduction against 6 of the most common bacteria and over a 3 log reduction against yeast (fungus) within 72hrs2.

There was varying levels of activity against all organisms at 5 minutes, indicating that the product may be useful as a wound cleanser.

INDICATIONS

• All chronic wounds (leg ulcers / diabetic foot ulcers / pressure ulcers) • Surgical wounds prior to closure • Graft sites prior to placing the graft • Post-operative wounds at risk of infection (prior to applying a post-op dressing) • Trauma wounds – especially irregular (3D) shapes • Burns (1st and 2nd degree) • Skin folds

FLEXIBILITY IN USE

• Control of where silver goes -guarantees that you cover all parts of the wound with silver • Can be used to spray into surgical wounds prior to closure • Spray onto open suture lines to prevent/reduce Surgical Site Infections (SSI’s) (Can be sprayed onto surrounding skin) • 3 sprays covers a 10cm x 10cm wound

COST EFFECTIVENESS

Silgen Ag is a cost effective method for treating infected wounds, or wounds at risk of infection and hard to dress wounds3.

PRECAUTIONS

Use on premature infants under specialist supervision only. Use with caution on pregnant mothers only under supervision of specialist as may pass through placenta. Intended to be used as part of a holistic treatment plan, follow local policy regarding antibiotic usage where signs of clinical infection is present.

CONTRAINDICATIONS

Do not use if patient has a confirmed allergy to silver. Do not use on lactating mothers as silver may pass through breast milk.
