Police officers who ride horses can get around quickly to offer protection. Protection is keeping someone safe from harm. You should wear a helmet when riding a bike for protection if you fall. Some people own a big dog for protection. What do you use for protection from the sun?

For example, the story “Little Red Riding Hood”, takes place in a forest. Clues in the story tell me what the setting is. There are trees all around as Little Red Riding Hood walks to Grandma’s. The wolf comes out from the trees. The wolf hurries ahead to Grandma’s, but Little Red Riding Hood doesn’t see where he goes because the trees hide him. These clues tell me they are in a forest.

Listen to this story: Once there was a group of first graders. The teacher helped them learn about letters and sounds and stories. The reading books had lots of fun stories. Soon, the first graders could read! The teacher was very proud!
